The Dog Pound - Final Judgement
Date Added: May 15, 2009
Story By: George Antonio
In less than 48 hours, WWE presents Judgement Day 2009. Looking at this years line-up, it seems to have shaped into a decent card; albeit with only six matches (so far announced) it should give everyone decent time to do what they do best. Before I get into my predictions for the show, I do want to make mention of some guys that are conspicuously absent from the card this year. Let's see, MVP perhaps? This guy has been on quite a role in recent weeks so its a shame the WWE can't find anything for him. John Morrison? Again, on fire and has really caught on with the fans; where is he? Let's not also forget guys like Shelton Benjamin and Evan Bourne. Nope, nothing for them either.

That said, I think part of the problem is due to the fact that we just had the Backlash ppv and really I don't think there has been enough time to develop these fueds and/or matches. Really, the only two that have been really built solidly is the ECW title match, and John Cena taking on the Big Show. I'll get into it more as I go, but for now, here are my predictions on what will go down Sunday.

Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho for the I.C. title. While this match should be amazing as it features two of the most talented men to ever get in the ring, I feel the story behind it is a little flat. I mean, Jericho shoved Mysterio out of the way and now he's in a match against him..and he gets a shot at Rey's title? Hmm?? So, had he shoved Edge out of the way instead, he's be fighting for the World title? I don't know. Anyway, if given enough time these two should put on a great match for everyone. And who knows, maybe we'll see Morrision and/or Benjamin get involved here at some point to bring their fued into the fray. Winner: Mysterio (by DQ interference).

CM Punk vs. Umaga. This is another match that has seemed to come out of nowhere; yet it has the potential to go somewhere. See, twice Punk has had the chance to cash in his MITB against Edge, and twice Umaga has stopped him. There could be many directions to go here. One, CM Punk defends the case against Umaga down the line. Or a perfect scenario, its revealed that Umaga was "hired" by Edge to make sure Punk doesn't cash it in. This would show Punk as a legit threat to Edge and the title, and would make Umaga seem fierce enough to want to have in your corner. In the end, should be an decent match if given the time. Winner: Umaga.

John Cena vs. Big Show. Now every time these guys have gotten in the ring together they have done a pretty solid job. They have proven they work together well and have good chemistry. What I don't like is how again, this match was rushed. I say they should have had Cena sell the injuries a bit more then come back for the "Extreme Rules" ppv and take out Show in an "extreme" match. That said, perhaps it is because Cena will be taking time off by then and this is their blow-off match. Due to that possibility, I'm going with Big Show for the win. Winner: Big Show.

Christian vs. Jack Swagger for the ECW title. This match I feel could very well be the match of the night. That's right I said it, match of the night. Every time Christian and Swagger have faced one another, the best has been brought out in each. I hope that Vince gives these guys enough time to show what they can do, because it has been gold so far. I also expect this match to be the one kicking off the show, which should put the fans in the right mood right off the bat! Winner: Christian.

Edge vs. Jeff Hardy for the World Heavyweight title. These guys have amazing chemistry, they do. I feel though that again, this match was just thrown together. Its almost as if they needed someone to face Edge quickly now that HHH is back on Raw. And, now that Matt Hardy is on Raw as well, we'll have these two fight. I don't see Edge losing this one, unless the WWE gives it to Jeff in hopes that he signs a contract extension to stay. Winner: Edge.

Randy Orton vs. Batista for the WWE title. To be totally honest, I don't care about this match at all. I am already very tired of Batista and I really don't want to see him in another main event ppv title match. I am very tired of him versus Legacy and just feel that a major character change could be a very good thing. There is no way Orton's losing this one; and hopefully we see a heel turn in the future for big Dave. Winner: Randy Orton.

There you have it peeps, my Final Judgement! Feel free to email me with any comments and feedback. Until next time...
