ECW New Superstar Initiative
Date Added: July 01, 2009
Story By: Cristy Brusoe
Hello Pro Wrestling Fans! My name is Cristy and I'm the newest writer for prowrestling.com. I'm super excited to write for you and would love to hear from you as well. The first topic I want to speak about is a simple one. The ECW New Superstar Initiative. First of all, the idea is superior. ECW is and needs to continue to be the show for new superstars to gain experience and test-out their gimmicks. It's try-out grounds for those who will either make-it or break-it. I can tell you that I tune in to ECW for that idea alone. I love to view and evaluate the fresh meat who could potentially be something special.

On last night's ECW, four new superstars debuted as part of the new superstar initiative. Let's take a look at how each did in their debut last night.

Yoshi Tatsu: This Japanese superstar had quite a short debut. I thought this match made Shelton look like a punk. The comeback kid story was played up in this match. Yoshi has skills and could have demonstrated more of them in this match. The "kick" didn't do anything for my excitement level.

Sheamus: I've heard big things about this Irish superstar. His hair is amazing! But in all seriousness, Sheamus didn't blow me away last night. I know he's been working house shows, so nerves shouldn't have been a huge factor. He could be a success depending on how WWE decides to use him. The "big" monster gimmick won't work here.

Abraham Washington: I'm going to be completely straight with this guy. I think he sucked. However, he does have the personality that grows on a viewer. I thought he was obnoxious, annoying and obviously nervous. His entrance was very indy and well... I was confused by all his quick hand motions. He seemed twitchy and not in control throughout the segment.

Tyler Reks: Out of all the new superstars on this week's show, I thought Tyler had the best outing and debut. I like what the WWE has done with this guy. I love the gimmick, because it actually works without looking cheesy and overdone. I'll have to wait to see more of his in-ring work, but I like what I see thus far.

Well, that's all I've got for now. There will be much more to come from me. Until next time, enjoy the day.
