Glancing at Raw 10/26/2009
Date Added: October 28, 2009
Story By: Keith Lehtinen
As Jericho and Big Show made their way out to the ring, I noticed the large trophy Jericho was tugging out to the ring with him. The man looked so ridiculous between two belts, the trophy, and being followed by the largest athlete in the world. Both men did a good job off the bat. I liked the way they preserved Big Show's reputation with a reasonable explanation for his Bragging Rights betrayal. Metallica hits and we are treated to the entrance of our co-hosts. I'm not a NASCAR fan in the least, so who these men are really means nothing to me. I did like Joey Legano on the mic, he seemed a lot more comfortable than his partner. They announce our main event for the night, Triple H vs. the Big Show. Not bad. Then Busch takes this mic and announces our first match, Chris Jericho vs. Kofi Johnson. Unfortunately Kofi Johnson couldn't make it so they sent Kofi Kingston out instead.

In all seriousness, this match was amazing. I love both of these two and there was soooo much to love. To top it all off, Kofi Kingston got the win and suddenly I could see the words "Main Event" tattooed on the man's forehead. Wow, I was just amazed by the entirety of the match. My excitement grew as Randy Orton himself came out and attacked Kofi after the match. I can't think of a better way to tell the WWE universe that Kofi Kingston just stepped up a rung on the ladder. Congratulations to him, with Kofi mixing it in at the top Raw can only get better.

After the break Legacy gave Randy Orton a NASCAR with his face on it. Honestly, I thought the car looked cool. But this definitely takes me back to some legendary moments in WWE history, especially the DX Express. I know immediately that the car wasn't making it out of Raw in one piece. We went to the guest hosts' office with the Miz and Jack Swagger. Both men cut great promos, Jack Swagger's being one of the best I've seen from him. Apparently these two are going to be feuding over the lovely Eve. I like the idea, both of them are great workers.

The mixed tag match was forgettable. Really. I forgot it happened until I reread the results. The only thing of real import that happened was the legal action taken against Hornswoggle. Thank goodness. I am sick of him. Ever since he was split from Finley, I care less and less about him. The Chavo/Hornswoggle feud was just awful. Hopefully this will make the bookers come up with something new to do with him.

So on to our next segment, scheduled to be our new champ. Thankfully Legacy came out to interrupt Justin Roberts. Both members of Legacy made a case to be number one contenders for the Championship and then asked John Cena to join them. He came out and then cut a promo, one that I simply did not care for. In fact, here is what I heard during this segment.

Cena: I GOT THE BELT! I LOVE THE CROWD!

Legacy: We deserve title shots.

Cena: Nu uh! I don't wanna and the Nascar guys said I don't have to.

Like, really? Then John got to announce Legacy's next match against MVP and the World's Strongest Man, Mark Henry. Both of these two I really like and this match was very good. It was quite physical and I hope that we are looking at four men who will be involved in the main event picture in the future. Mark henry's team got the win and afterwards Randy Orton came out to cut a promo with his crew. He demands a title match (please, for the love of God, no).

Suddenly, up on the big screen, Kofi Kingston appears yet again. This is definitely going to be good. What proceeds is a terrific promo by the young man, showing a violent and dramatic side that we haven't seen yet. Kofi looked amazing throughout this whole thing and this feud is going to be red hot.

We get another match to further the Jack Swagger/Miz feud, leading to Evan Bourne getting a count out victory over the Miz. Once again I think this will be a good feud and I expect the US Title to change hands at least once.

Coming in from ECW, we get our first Raw look at Sheamus. He continued to impress just like he has been on ECW. I am saddened that his feud with Shelton Benjamin is apparently over and I wonder how he is going to fit with the already crowded Raw roster. However congratulations to him, he has made it to the big show.

The main event of the show could've been really bad, but it wasn't. It wasn't great either, but I enjoyed it. Team Raw got it's revenge and DX got the crowd going. It was a great way to close out the show. However, then the guest hosts came out for one more announcement. They had finally picked Cena's opponent for Survivor Series. He would be facing Triple H . . . and Shawn Michaels. A triple threat for the title, including both members of DX? I'm not sure how I feel about this one. But time might prove me wrong.

Overall, Raw wasn't spectacular but a few young talent worked hard and keep me tuning in every week. Thanks to the WWE for putting together such consistent entertainment. I promise I'll have an ECW article up later today and remember all my pugnastic procrastinators . . .
