Final Q&A session for Smackdown vs. Raw
Date Added: September 08, 2004
Story By: Rick Quinn
Before I even begin Q&A, there are a few things I need to address. One (and probably most importantly), while I was one of the 4000 beta testers for the game, I do not claim to have any inside information. All the info you read here is based on information that can be found at various websites if you search hard enough for it. My primary source of info is IGN.com, which I always credit for the information I pass along to you. Second, I received over 1,500 emails over the last week, and certainly you don’t expect me to answer them all. I did, however, try to answer the questions that were asked the most, and questions that may not have been covered in our previous Q&A sessions.
Here is a bulk of news that may answer some of your questions:
a. Eugene, Steve Austin, Brock Lesner, Goldberg, La Resistance, Lita, Spike Dudley, or anyone else who is not on the official confirmed roster will NOT make it to final build of the game. Sorry guys.
b. The only confirmed online feature is one on one play, but expect that to change in the next few weeks.
c. While there will be liscened music in the game, THQ is not revealing who any of the bands are yet.
d. Absolutely nothing is known about the create-a-character mode, nor do we have details on which storylines have made it into season mode.
e. Because Smackdown vs. Raw will not support the HDD, here are a list of things you won’t be able to do: download new attires, wrestlers or music, edit existing wrestlers, download your own music in the game.
Now, on with the questions:
Q. In last years Story modes you never really can be the heel. When you’re the heel it doesn't really make a difference. In the new game will I be able to wreak more havoc, like betray my partner to join evolution or something?
A. Don’t worry, this time around will be completely different. Now, depending on what you do during season mode, your character will be a face or a heel. If you use chairs all the time, your character will be heel. If you respect your opponents after the match, you’ll be face, and the season mode will respond accordingly to the choices you make.
Q. Why does Spike Dudley always get the shaft? He wasn't in HCTP and now he's not in SvR, but Scotty 2 Hotty, Garrison Cade, Mark Jindrak and Chuck Palumbo are?
A. All I can tell you is that the WWE gets the final word on who makes it into the final build of the game. There are a lot of people who were left out of the game this year, and there are some that have us scratching our heads trying to figure out how they made it.
Q. Are the following things unlockable: Legends? Videos? Attire? Moves? And what else needs to be unlocked?
Q. There will be unlockable move sets, and possibly even attires. Legends will have to be unlocked as well, and there will be a truckload of goodies for you to unlock in challenge mode.
Q. Will there be a create-a-pay per view mode like back in the old No Mercy game, and if so how will it work? Will you be able to play Championships in exhibition mode?
A. Yes, there is a CAPPV mode in this year’s game. Heres how it works: you name your PPV, then pick between three and eight matches. From there, you decide which matches will take place, which arena they will be in, who will compete, and more importantly, which titles will be on the line. Original titles (WWE champion, World Heavyweight champion, IC title, etc) are not defendable in CAPPV or exhibition mode, but to make up for it, THQ has added the create-a-belt option, allowing you to customize your own championship belts and defend them. Sadly, CAB cannot be defended in season mode.
Q. Will Randy Orton be alone w/new music & video or still be apart of Evolution? Also who will be the champions?
A. Randy's new music has a 25% chance of making it into the game. It was introduced long after the cut off date (which is around SummerSlam), but if the WWE antisipated the split, it may have been added. In my opinion, don't bet on it. As for Randy being in Evolution, if you look at all the screens of the game with Evolution in them, you'll notice that Randy isn't in any of them. Even if he is still a member of Evolution, it won't be hard to edit the stables and remove him.
There were plenty of other questions, but they were all answered in the previous Q&A sessions. This is the final Q&A session guys, so I will not be answering any more emails. However, when the game is released, I will be taking reviews from all of you and posting them here.
