WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2006 Full Review
Date Added: December 30, 2005

With the disappointment of Smackdown vs. Raw, one can only ask of Smackdown vs. Raw 2006, is it truly the “best” wrestling game ever created? Of course, my opinion doesn’t count, but when you put many opinions together and create one voice of opinions, then you have to agree. Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 by far is probably the best wrestling game ever created but I’m not going to expect “2006” to hold that record for long. With the PS3 coming out soon, one can pretty much assume that the next installment will be on the new console (just a rumor, not a confirmed fact).

Graphics: 5 *****
The graphics are stunning…literally. Some of the best graphics I have seen produced from any game, not just wrestling games.

Gameplay: 5 *****
Definitely good; of course all things have flaws but it’s not like its earth shattering. Just a few AI flaws but nothing much after that I can say.

Create A Wrestler: 4 ****
Not much you can really say for this other than that its pretty good, improved certainly over last years game.

Create An Entrance: 4 ****
It is somewhat lacking, but when it’s the first time to be implemented in a game, you can tend expect too much out of it when you shouldn’t, look for the next SdvsRaw installment to have better features.

GM Mode: 3 ***
It’s ok. Many have considered this feature a grave disappointment but like I said, people tend to expect too much out of new features. I haven’t played it a whole bunch because of my busy schedule, but it’s almost like Extreme Warfare Revenge but certainly not as in-depth.

Season: 3 ***
Certainly a disappointment for me; the “character specific” storylines were like only one month in length on the whole season and then went back to the pre-made season and it was literally the same for every character. THQ/Yukes really ought to go back and have a 2-year season like they had on “Here Comes The Pain” (I believe it was that game that had the 2 year season). However, I did love enormous amount of cut scenes and the voiceovers were great.

Online Mode: 3 ***
Humph! Still got them cheaters and there is a very long list that has been compiled at a certain “FAQ site.” They have a very big list of people to avoid on the online mode and it has certainly grown into a bigger database.

After all my adding, division, and other nonsense, I finally can get a final grade for the game. Man, am I glad I took that Algebra II class just to know how to add and divide.

Final Score: 4 of 5 ****
