Date Added: January 28, 2008
Story By: Will Hengelbrok
New England Championship Wrestling returned to the National Guard Armory in Quincy, MA in front of a sold out house this past Saturday night, January 26th for SNOWBRAWL.

In the opening contest, which was a semi-final match in the tournament for the vacant NECW Tag Team Championship, the team of Chris Venom and Paul Lombardi were scheduled to face the Weapons of Masked Destruction, Kreeper and Iraqnid. Bryce Andrews and Vain Valentino came to the ring and Andrews revealed that he had paid off Kreeper and Iraqnid to give him and his partner the shot. Valentino pinned Venom to advance his team to the finals.

In a match for the NECW Television Championship, “The Real Deal” Brandon Locke defended against Handsome Johnny in a rematch from last month in Quincy. Towards the end of the match Locke inadvertently struck referee JT Franks and was subsequently disqualified giving Handsome Johnny the win.

The team of “The Human Nightmare” Evan Siks and “Nightmare” Nick Steel made short work of Team Awesome (Matt Spectro and “Future Superstar” Ryan Matthews). Siks pinned Spectro after two rolling German Suplexes and a Death Valley Driver. After the match, Michael Sain came out and split “The Human Nightmare” open with a vicious shot to the head with Siks’ chain.

In a rematch from this week’s NECW TV, Scott Osbourne pinned “Sweet” Scott Ashworth. While manager Brian Cairo distracted the referee, Osbourne punched Ashworth below the belt and rolled him up for the pin.

The next match was a World Women’s Wrestling championship rematch with Lexxus defending the red and gold belt against “The Portuguese Princess” Ariel. In a closely fought contest, Lexxus was able to counter Ariel with an inside cradle to win the match.

In another semifinal tag team match in the NECW Tag Team Title Tournament, third generation star “Rocket” Fred Curry Jr. and Chase Del Monte bested the Exotic Entertainment combo of “Exotic” Kristian Frost and “Ladies Man” Gregory Edwards following a tandem top rope neck-breaker/Samoan drop move.

Michael Sain battled Jason Blade in the next contest. Late in the match, Sain spilled to the outside of the ring and the bloodied Evan Siks returned attacking him. The match ended with Sain winning by disqualification. Blade stepped aside as Siks battered Sain. The crowd chanted for “The Human Nightmare” to use the chain, which he obliged. Finally the locker room emptied dragging both men apart.

In the main event, an eight-man elimination tag team match, the team of NECW Triple Crown champion “Big” Rick Fuller, Antonio “The Promise” Thomas, DC Dillinger, and “Die Hard” Eddie Edwards, with Sean Gorman and Brian Cairo at ringside, faced off with Max Bauer, “Straight Edge” Brian Fury, “The Golden Greek” Alex Arion, and “The Infamous” Bobby Fish.

The order of eliminations:

Eddie Edwards eliminated Brian Fury by pin fall after assistance by Antonio Thomas.

“The Golden Greek” Alex Arion was eliminated by Eddie Edwards by pin fall with a handful of tights.

Bobby Fish and Eddie Edwards battled to a double count out. Edwards kicked Fish low and then ran out of the Quincy Armory and jumped into his car, driving away.

Max Bauer pinned DC Dillinger after a gorilla press face-buster.

Brian Fury returned to ringside distracting “The Promise” leading to Max Bauer pinning Antonio Thomas after a gorilla press face-buster.

Max Bauer was able to counter a Rick Fuller choke slam attempt with a diving schoolboy pin to win the match for his team and to remain the sole survivor of the match leading into his Triple Crown title match at GENESIS 7 on February 16th with Rick Fuller.

NECW returns to live action on Saturday night, February 16 for one of the biggest events of the year, GENESIS 7 BATTLE OF THE GIANTS. Tickets are on sale now at all FYE locations, K.C.'s Sports Card, 33 Temple Street in Quincy Center and online at www.NECWwrestling.com.
