WSCS: The Awakening Quick Match Results
Date Added: June 03, 2009
Story By: Will Hengelbrok

Phil Lanides sent along the following:

This past Saturday, May 30th, the San Francisco-based World Combat Sports Challenge presented its first event with MMA bouts on their card. A kickboxing/Muay Thai promotion for over 20 years, this was their first foray into MMA territory, and it was a very successful show. San Francisco’s Kezar Pavilion was close to full, with around 5,000 fight fans in attendance to see the fights. 18 Muay Thai and MMA bouts were fought in front of the near-capacity crowd, and both male and female fighters were featured. Frank Shamrock, Jake Shields, Gilbert Melendez, Josh Thomson, Uriah Faber, and UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva were all in attendance to both support their fighters and take in the fights. Here are the quick results of the event (thanks to VINCIT Magazine for their support of the event, as well as help with the fight results - http://www.vincitmagazine.com/):
