Strikeforce’s women’s division is heating up, with possibly policy changes, after the organization announced that Shayna Baszler vs. Sarah Kaufman will be three five minute rounds, rather than three three-minute rounds.
This comes, shortly after the announcement of Carano vs. Cyborg in five five-minute rounds for the women’s title. A possibly indication on the company’s plan to change their policy on the women’s division.
Strikeforce officials were granted permission to extend the time limit on the rounds for Carano vs. Cyborg with the CSAC. Washington State Athletic Commission also obliged the request when approached by Strikeforce officials about five-minute rounds for the Kaufman vs. Baszler fight.
Strikeforce officials went on record saying that they are handling it by a case-by-case situation due to them having to go through each Athletic Commission, vary from state-to-state.
