During this week’s ECW on Sci Fi, WWE developmental wrestler Shawn Spears made his WWE television debut as part of Theodore Long's talent initiative, losing to Ricky Ortiz. Spears went under the ring-name of Gavin Spears and has been under contract to WWE since January 2006, giving him plenty of time in WWE’s developmental territory. Spears already had a small taste of wrestling in WWE back in February 2005, he jobbed in a tag team match against Rosey and The Hurricane on an episode of WWE Heat.
DH Smith's mother, Diana Hart, attended last Thursday’s Florida Championship Wrestling show in Tampa to watch her son wrestler. Smith wrestled the latest ECW star Shawn Spears in a losing effort. Spears got the win by rolling up Smith and grabbing the ropes to score the 3-count.
The new ECW referee is a former OVW referee who goes by the name of Goose Mahoney. He is currently refereeing for WWE’s Developmental Territory, Florida Championship Wrestling.
