Detailed WWE Wellness Policy Drug Testing Report

As part of its investigation into steroid and illegal drug use in professional wrestling, the Congressional Committee on Oversight and Government Reform issued a breakdown of test results under WWE's Wellness Policy. The full PDF is available here.

Highlights include (for the test period 7/1/07 - 3/31/08):

_ WWE has performed a total of 505 drug tests, which amounts to 4.2 samples per talent. 334 were random, and 3 were based on reasonable suspicion.

_ Of the 31 pre-contract tests, 6 came back positive.

_ Of the 479 non-blanket tests, 58 came back positive. Forty one test failures resulted in fines, six results in suspensions, three resulted in releases, seven resulted in health warnings and one was exempted under therapeutic use.

_ So far, punishment (in the form of suspension or release) has been due to nandrolone (2 cases), cocaine (2 cases), stanzolol (2 cases), oxycodone (1 case) and sample substitution (2 cases).

_ Of the positive test results, 73% were for marijuana, 16% were for steroids and 11% were for stimulants.

_ Of the nine positive results for androgenic anabolic steroids, two were for nandrolone, two were for stanzolol and five were for testosterone.

_ Of the six positive stimulant tests, two were for pseudoephedrine, two were for cocaine, one was for amphetamine and one was for ephedrine.
