WCW Thunder
1st August 2002
Columbus, Ohio
Annnouncers: Scott Hudson and Mark Madden
Written by John Sivewright and Jason Kos

We get a highlights package containing scenes from three nights ago on WCW
Monday Nitro, including WCW's victory over nWo in a six-man tag, Vince
McMahon becoming the WCW Commissioner and Chavo Guerrero Jr returning to WCW
and defeating Cruiserweight Champion Rey Mysterio Jr in a non-title match.

We cut to a live shot of the sold out crowd here in Columbus, Ohio's
Nationwide Arena. The fans are on their feet as we hear chants of
'Thunder!! Thunder!! Thunder!!'. The camersas cut to a shot of the
announce table, where Scott Hudson and Mark Madden are sat. Hudson,
"Welcome, WCW fans, to Thunder! I am the your new play-byplay announcer for
Thunder, Scott Hudson and alongside me is the colour man, Mark Madden."
Madden, "Great to be back on WCW TV, Scott Hudson!" Hudson, "I agree, Mark.
And we are gonna kick off the show with a cruiserweight tag-team match!
Chavo Guerrero Jr and Tajiri team up to take on Rey Mysterio Jr and WCW
newcomer, Essa Rios!" Madden, "Don't forget, Scott Hudson, Rey Mysterio
lost to Chavo Jr in a non-title match on Nitro, so this coming Nitro, he
must defend the gold against Chavo. Their exchanges tonight should be
interesting."

Tajiri and Chavo Guerrero Jr VS Essa Rios and Rey Mysterio Jr
A fast paced encounter involving four of the top cruiserweights in WCW.
Essa Rios looks particularly impressive in his WCW debut, engaging in some
swift exchanges with Tajiri. Chavo dominates much of the action involving
him and Rey Jr, implying that we could have a new cruiserweight champion
this Monday on Nitro. In the closing moments, Tajiri comes flying off of
the top rope, only to be nailed by a dropkick to the chest from Rios. Essa
and Tajiri tag their respective partners. Both Chavo and Rey Jr trade right
hands, with Rey Jr gaining the advantage. Mysterio goes for a whip, but
Guerrero Jr reverses it. Chavo throws Rey Mysterio into the air, but
Mysterio lands an armdrag on the way down. Rey Jr whips Chavo into the
corner and follows in with a clothesline attempt. Chavo lands a back elbow
to the jaw to cut off Rey Jr's momentum. Guerrero Jr pulls Rey Jr back into
the corner and goes for the Tornado DDT. Mysterio manages to reverse it by
throwing Chaov across the ring. Mysterio runs at Guerrero Jr, who sidesteps
Rey Jr and sends the cruiserweight champion crashing into the opposite
corner. Chavo rolls Mysterio up and hooks the tights. 1 ..... 2 ..... 3!!
Winners by pinfall: Tajiri and Chavo Guerrero Jr in 10:45
Hudson, "Chavo Guerrero Jr has got his second pinfall over Rey Mysterio Jr
this week, but on this occassion it was not without a little controversy."
Chavo and Tajiri slide out of the ring to avoid a backlash from the losing
team.

Hudson, "Now we go backstage where we are joined by another newcomer to WCW,
Jonathan Coachman."

Jonathan Coachman is out in the parking lot where the nWo have just got out
of their limo. Coach, "Hi WCW fans, I am the Coach and I am out here to get
a word with the nWo. Boy, do they look upset." The nWo walks past Coach as
he tries to get a word. Coach, "Hi, New World Order, can I have a word ..."
The nWo walks past Coach ignoring him as Kevin Nash snaps, "F*ck off!!"
Coach looks stunned, but continues, "There you have it, the nWo are not a
happy camp. I am The Coach and back to you at ringside, Scott."

Break

[7.15-7.30]

We come back from the break and Kevin Nash is behind the curtain backstage,
about to come out. Rey Mysterio steps through the curtain from finishing
his match and bumps into Big Sexy. Nash, "Watch where you're going,
shortass!" Mysterio responds, "What did you just say?" Nash, "You heard me
pip squeak, piss off!" Rey Jr slaps Kevin Nash!! The World Champion
responds with thigh to the midsection and throws Mysterio into a nearby set
of cables. Nash, "I'll see you in the ring, you little bastard!"

Madden, "Has Kevin Nash just challenged Rey Mysterio Jr for tonight?!"
Hudson, "That's what it looks like, Mark. I hope that bully gets what's
coming to him." The black and white lights flicker as the nWo music plays.
Kevin Nash comes down to the ring alone. Nash gets in and demands a mic.
Nash, "Shut up, I've got something to say." The fans start booing louder.
Nash, "To hell with all of you! On behalf of everyone in the nWo, I am
pissed off with what happened last week on Monday Nitro. Nobody spraypaints
the letters 'NWO' on my body, absolutely nobody! Least of all a former
champion ..." Bret Hart's music plays and the Hitman walks out onto the top
of stage. Hart, "Now you know how it feels when you and your gang of thugs
terrorise everyone in WCW." Nash, "You know what, Hart, forget a war of
words. I want you in the ring." Hart, "The feeling's mutual. You know,
the more I think about the way you screwed me over at The Great American
Bash, the more it makes me want a rematch with you. But it hit me that if I
do have a rematch with you, all I'll get is more outside interference. So I
make a proposal, big man. Me and you go at it once more at Bash at the
Beach. But so that your guys can't interfere, why don't we make it a steel
cage match?" Nash ponders this suggestion for a few seconds. Nash, "Sure.
There will be nowhere for you to run and nowhere for you to hide as I kick
the leaving crap out of you for what you did to me on Monday. Believe me,
the nWo won't be there. I don't need the nWo to win my matches." Hart,
"Just like you didn't need them at The Bash last Sunday?" Nash, "You know
what, Bret Hart, I am sick and tired of your whining and crying, why don't
we just get it on right now!" Hart, "Challenge accepted!" Bret Hart runs
down to the ring and slides in. As he enters the ring, we get a shot on the
big screen of Sid Vicious laid out in his locker room, with a broken guitar
over his head. The screen splits in half with the other half showing Randy
Savage laid out in his locker room, with big welts on his back, perhaps by
some shots from a belt." Bret Hart is distracted by this footage, so Nash
jumps him from behind. Nash lays into Bret with a series of rights and
whips Hart into the ropes. The Hitman ducks a clothesline attempt, comes
off of ther ropes once more and takes the Champion down with a clothesline
of his own. Hart kneels over Nash and unloads with a barrage of right
hands. Hollywood Hogan, Jeff Jarrett and April Hunter run down and a big 4
way beat down occurs on The Excellence of Execution. The nWo all put the
boots to Bret before Nash goes for a Jacknife Powerbomb. The fans start
popping big time as we get a shot of the entrance way and Rey Mysterio Jr is
sprinting down with a steel chair in hand. Nash notices Mysterio and lets
go of Hart before sliding out of the ring. Rey Jr slides in with the chair
and swings it at the nearest nWo member, Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett ducks it and
Mysterio nails Hogan in the head! Jarrett rolls out along with April Hunter
as Kevin Nash pulls Hollywood out of the ring by Hogan's arms. Rey Jr holds
the chair up to the crowd for a huge ovation.

Ad for Bash at the Beach, coming live from the American Airlines Centre in
Miami, Florida on August 18th!

Vince McMahon is in his office with Chris Jericho. McMahon, "Chris, if you
wouldn't mind, I have some business to attend to." Jericho, "Sure, Vince,
whatever." Jericho leaves and as he goes out the door, he bumps into Mikey
Whipreck and Judge Jeff Jones. Y2J stares down Mikey before walking off
down the hallway. Whipreck and The Judge enter McMahon's locker room.
McMahon, "Why, Mikey Whipreck! WCW Extreme Champion! And his manager, The
Judge!! Take a seat please, gentlemen."

Break

[7.30-7.45]

Ken Shamrock has just arrived in the arena and he is walking down the
corridor towards his dressing room. A shot of Shamrock's dressing room door
shows a plaque with his name surrounded by stars. Shamrock opens the door
and enters his dressing room, which is like an executive suite, contianing a
large block sofa a mirror and sparkling clean wash basin and even a work
desk. Shamrock turns to face a door leading to the bathroom. Shamrock
faces the entrance door again, where Vince Russo has appeared! Russo,
"Surprise, surprise." Shamrock, "What the hell ..." Russo, "Calm down,
Ken, calm down. I just thought I'd give you an example of the kind of
out-of-the-ring services I can bring to you as your manager. Look at this
dressing room. Trust me, Ken, this is even better that Kevin Nash's
dressing room. A large comfy sofa for your relaxtion, a mirror with the
best reflection money can buy, a basin for your wash after the match, a desk
at which to sit if you wish to engage in a piece of literature or pen your
thoughts and let's not forget the beautiful restroom through that door.
Going to the bathroom never felt so good." Shamrock, "Where is this going,
Russo?" Russo, "Ken, dressing rooms can be even better than this. Under my
management, you could change in the most luxurious dressing rooms arenas can
offer. I mean, how about a bar in the corner for a post match beverage?
And this is only one of the perks. There are many other first class
services I can offer you and don't worry, you will be shown all of them in
due course." Shamrock, "Well, Russo, you have proven something to me
tonight." Russo, "What's that?" Shamrock, "You are a slimy son of a bitch
..." Shamrock nails Russo with a hard right hand and throws Vinnie Ru out
of the dressing room, slamming the door afterwards.

Scott Hudson and Mark Madden are at ringside. Hudson, "I don't think we've
seen the last of Vince Russo's persuing of Ken Shamrock." Madden, "I agree,
Scott Hudson. But what gets me is, why does Vince Russo want Ken Shamrock
so bad?" Hudson, "My guess is as good as yours, Mark, but I'm sure we'll
all find out together soon enough."

wCw Tag Team Championships
Rico and Chaz VS Kronik
Hudson, "If Rico and Chaz lose this match, it will be their last shot at the
tag team titles while Kronkik are the champions." This tag match is fairly
one sided, with Kronik dominating with their high impact offence. Seemingly
every comeback made by Rico and Chaz is halted by a big time manoeuvre from
the tag team champions. In the closing moments, Brian Adams whips Chaz into
the ropes, misses a big boot and is caught by a dropkick from the former
Headbanger Mosh. Both men are down and crawl over to tag their partners.
Both tags are mad and Rico comes in like a house of fire, blasting Brian
Clarke with right hands. Rico whips Clarke into the ropes and misses a
clothesline. Clarke lands a boot to the midsection and goes for a suplex.
Rico slides out the back door and goes for a rollup. 1 ...... 2 .... Brian
Adams breaks the fall by kicking Rico in the back of the head. Chaz comes
back in and nails Adams with a right hand, but is ejected from the ring by
the referee. Adams lands a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker on Rico before he and
Clarke land the High Times. Clarke goes for the cover and picks up the win.
Winner by pinfall: Kronik in 8:11
Hudson, "Once again, Kronik displays their dominance in tag-team
competition. Can any tag-team in WCW stop them?" Madden, "I know one
tag-team that won't, Scott Hudson. Rico and Chaz just blew their last
chance at taking the belts from the Brian's!" While Kronik show off their
tag-team gold to the crowd, Perry Saturn slides into the ring and he has a
steel chair. They can't see Perry since he is behind them. Saturn nails
them both with chair shots to the back and they go flying through the ropes
and to the outside. Both members of Kronik try getting back in, but Saturn
blocks their entry with swings of the chair. Kronik agree to live to fight
another day as they go backstage. Saturn is getting a big pop from the
crowd.

Break

[7.45-8.00]

Sid Vicious and Randy Savage storm into Vince McMahon's office. McMahon,
"What are you doing coming in here like this?" Vicious, "McMahon, we want a
tag match against Hogan and Jarrett and we want it tonight!!" McMahon, "You
just can't come in here demanding things Sid Justice ... Sycho Sid ... Sid
Vicious or whatever the hell your name is!" Savage, "McMahon .... yeah.
.... we want a shot at Jarrett and Hogan, dig it!" McMahon, "Well in the
interest of fairness, I will grant you your match. But, gentlemen, you
don't need to flip if you want a match. Just ask politely and your wishes
will be granted." Vicious looks Vince in the eye. Vicious, "Fine, by me,
Vince." McMahon, "That's Mr McMahon to you." Sid and Savage turn to go as
McMahon mutters: "Why the hell did I let that guy headline two
Wrestlemania's?" Sid turns back around quickly and grabs McMahon by the
collar. Vicious, "What the hell did you just say??!" McMahon, "Touch me
like this again and you won't headline another pay-per-view again!" Sid
releases his grip and leaves with Savage.

wCw Television Championship
Kid Kash (c) vs. Christian
"Christian! Christian! At last, you're on your own!!!" plays over the speakers along with pyros shooting down from the ceiling, as Christian walks out from the back to a mixed reaction from the crowd. He struts down to the ring, before his opponent's music plays. Kid Kash, the Television Champion, comes out with the Television Championship wrapped around his waist. The crowd cheers for him as he gets into the ring, and stands face to face with his opponent. Referee Charles Robinson takes the TV title from Kid Kash, and raises it high in the air, showing it to the crowd, before handing it to the time keeper and calling for the bell. Both men lock up, collar and elbow tie-up, Christian quickly arm dragging the champion to the mat, who quickly gets back up and gets taken down with a nice hiptoss. Christian picks Kash up by the hair, and Kash hits an elbow into Christian's stomach, and another, and a third one. Kash with the cover, one, two, the challenger kicks out before the three. Kash gaining more momentum, putting Christian in powerbomb position, lifts Christian up, but the challenger counters the powerbomb into a face buster! Christian with the pin, one, two, Kash kicks out! The sold out crowd is cheering wildly for both men. Christian taking Kash over into the corner, putting him up on the top rope, Christian hooking Kash up for a suplexplex, and lifting him high in the air, Kash counters and lands on top of Christian, Kash has the pin, one, two, kickout! Kash cannot believe it, and is arguing with the referee about a slow count. Kash's arguing is giving Christian time to recover, he comes from behind Kash and hooks him up for the Unprettier, but Kash counters with a shove, but he shoves him right into the referee! The referee is down, Kash has rolled Christian up with a school boy, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.... But the referee isn't making the count, he's out! Kash lets go of Christian and starts trying to get the ref up, Christian comes from behind Kash again, and hits the Unprettier! Kash is out cold, Christian has the cover, referee moving, slowly, slowly into position, the referee counts, one............... two........... thre, no, Kash kicks out of the pin. Christian cannot believe it, and is taking Kash over to the corner yet again. He puts Kash on the top, and goes up as well, both men on the top rope, Christian hooking Kash up into position for the Unprettier off the top, Madden, " There is no way in hell Christian can hit the Unprettier off the top rope!" Christian gets ready to jump, but Kash gets out of the hold, and hooks up Christian from behind, the two jump off the top rope, and Kash hits a huge Reverse DDT from the top rope! The champ gets the cover on Christian, one, two, three! Kash retains his title.

Break

We come back from the break and Hollywood Hogan has his bags and is leaving
the arena with Jeff Jarrett behind him. Jarrett, "Why are you going,
Hollywood?" Hogan, "Jarrett, you make me sick to my stomach. You've cost
the nWo too much lately and I've had it up to here with you!" Hogan gets
into his limo and is quickly driven away. Jarrett jumps into a nearby limo
and orders the chauffeur to follow Hogan's limo.

[8.30-8.45]

Scott Hudson and Mark Madden are at ringside. Hudson, "Can you believe what
we just saw, Mark?" Madden, "Yes, of course I can. Look at things with an
open mind and an open eye, Scott Hudson. Last Sunday the Great American
Bash, Jeff Jarrett was defeated by Sid Vicious. Last Monday, his guitar
shot to the head of Kevin Nash cost his team a six man tag. Also in the
opening segment on Monday, the guitar that he left lying in the ring got
wrapped around the head of Kevin Nash once again. Earlier tonight, Jarrett
ducked a chairshot from Rey Mysterio Jr which nailed nWo leader, Hollywood
Hogan instead. And finally, just minutes ago, he tagged Hollywood Hogan
back in just moments after an exhausted Hogan tagged out, leading to their

the apron to distract the official, with a can of spraypaint in hand. The
ref argues with her and while this happens, Hunter throws the spraypaint to
Nash. Kevin attempts to nail Mysterio with it, but Rey Jr ducks it, lands a
boot to the midsection, picks up the can and sprays Nash in the eyes.
Mysterio throws the can out of the ring and slides out onto the apron.
April Hunter grabs hold of Mysterio's leg, but Rey Jr responds by kicking
her away and nailing her with an asai moonsault! Mysterio hops back onto
the apron as Nash still appears to be blinded. Rey Jr springboards from the
top rope and onto Nash's shoulders. Big Sexy catches Mysterio with the
Jacknife!! Nash goes for the cover. 1 ..... 2 ..... 3!!
Winner by pinfall: Keivn Nash in 10:18
After the match, Nash rolls Rey Jr over and gets the recovering April Hunter
to give him the spray can. Nash opens it, shakes it up and starts spraying
nWo on the back of Mysterio. While he is halfway through the ritual, Bret
Hart runs down to the ring and takes Nash down with a double leg pickup and
pounds away on the World Champion. Bret locks Nash in the Sharpshooter!
Bret lets go after a minute as Rey Jr recovers. Hart lifts Nash up and
offers Mysterio a free shot at Big Sexy. Mysterio goes to the ring apron,
springboards in onto Nash's shoulders and takes Kevin over with the
hurracanrana! Both Hart and Mysterio stand on opposite middle turnbuckles
and play to the crowd as the show goes off the air.
