Written by: Gary Freeland

[8:00-8:15]

ECW Thursday Night Carnage starts out with Guns N’ Roses’s “Welcome to the Jungle” blasting and the Triple Threat led to the ring by Chris Candido. Candido grabs the mic and prepares to address the crowd. Candido, “In only three shorts day will I get to prove to you idiots that I am once and for all the only ‘Franchise Player’ here in ECW. Not Lance Storm. Not Justin Credible. ME!!! I know that I am the ‘Franchise Player’ here in ECW and I don’t have anything to prove to myself. The Triple Threat knows that I am the ‘Franchise Player’ in ECW and I don’t have to prove anything to them. But it is you the people that will not get it through your heads. It will be you the people that I will have to prove it to. But I do not feel like waiting until this Sunday to do so. I want to prove to the entire world TONIGHT!” The crowd is confused to what Chris Candido is saying. Candido, “So tonight, I challenge you Rob Van Dam to an ECW World Heavyweight Title Match! So get out here and tell the ‘Franchise’ what he wants to hear.” Candido does not have to wait long as Pantera’s “Walk” blasts throughout the Boutwell Auditorium and the ECW World Heavyweight Champion makes his way onto the ramp. RVD, “So you think you are the ‘Franchise’ here? You think you are the man to beat here in ECW? Well I have one question for you, do you have this strap wrapped around your waist? I don’t think you do and until you do you will never be the ‘Franchise!’ You will never be the Man and you will never be ECW Champion!” Candido, “So what are you trying to tell me Rob, that you are punking out? Are you trying to tell me that you are running out of here with you tail tucked between your legs because you are afraid to lose your ECW Title to me? Are you…” RVD, “Are you fucking insane? No one talks to the greatest ECW World Heavyweight Champion like that! You want you little match then fine you are on! Tonight me and you for the greatest prize in the game. But I tell you what, you better bring you A game because I plan on showing you what Rob…Van…Dam is all about!” RVD exits as Chris Candido and the Triple Threat leave the ring with huge smiles on their faces. Styles, “Welcome to ECW Thursday Night Carnage! I am joined here as always by my broadcast colleague Jonathan Coachmen, and Coach what a way to start off the show!” Coach, “That’s right Joey, with the addition of the World Title match to the card, we now have 3 ECW Titles on the line tonight!” Styles, “We sure do and the first of the three defenses is up next as Jerry Lynn will be defending his ECW Extreme Cruiserweight Championship against Jody Fleisch!”

ECW Extreme Cruiserweight Championship
‘The New F’n Show’ Jerry Lynn vs. ‘The Phoenix’ Jody Fleisch

AFI’s “Day of the Phoenix” blasts and out comes ECW newcomer Jody Fleisch to a decent pop from the crowd. Fleisch waits in the ring as Coal Chamber’s “El Cu Cuy” plays and out comes the ECW Extreme Cruiserweight Champion Jerry Lynn. Both men are in the ring and Bob Ortiz gets ready for the title match introductions. Ortiz, “This match is for the ECW Extreme Cruiserweight Championship! Introducing first is the challenger from Walthamstow, London weighing in at 185 pounds, ‘The Phoenix’ JOOOOOODY FLEISCH!!! And his opponent, from Minneapolis, Minnesota weighing in at 212 pounds, he is the E…C…W Extreme Cruiserweight Champion, ‘The New F’n Show’ JERRRRRRRRRRY LYNN!!!” The bell rings and the match begins. The two men tie up with Jerry Lynn gaining the advantage. Lynn puts Fleisch into a top wristlock. Fleisch flips over to take the pressure off of his arm, nails Lynn with a cartwheel kick to break the hold and then locks in a wristlock of his own. Lynn counters by twisting and putting the top wristlock back on Fleisch. Fleisch goes under the arm of Lynn and locks on a hammerlock. Fleisch then leaps over the head of Lynn, rolls backwards and sweeps Lynn’s legs out from underneath him. Fleisch picks up the champion and whips him off of the ropes. Fleisch leap frogs him and then drops to the mat as Lynn comes through again. Lynn bounces off of the ropes and Fleisch takes him down with an armdrag. Fleisch charges and Lynn takes him down with an armdrag.

[8:15-8:25]

Lynn charges and Fleisch hooks the leg of Lynn and cradles him up. One…Two…two count only. Fleisch whips Lynn into the corner and charges. Fleisch catches a boot to the face that sends him stumbling back toward the center of the ring. Fleisch charges again but Lynn moves out of the way. Fleisch leaps up on the top but Lynn shoves him off, sending him crashing into the guardrail! Fleisch tries to climb back into the ring but Lynn nails him with a baseball slide, sending Fleisch over the guardrail into the crowd! Lynn climbs to the top rope and leaps off nailing Fleisch with a pescado! “ECW! ECW! ECW!” Lynn grabs Fleisch and tosses him back to ringside. He then takes Fleisch and rolls him into the ring. Lynn goes for the cover. One…Two…THRE, two and a half. Lynn goes for a suplex but Fleisch blocks it with a northern lights suplex! One…Two…Lynn bridges out of it and goes for the ddt but Fleisch counters with the inverted atomic drop. Fleisch goes for another northern lights suplex but Lynn floats over and nails Fleisch with reverse ddt! One…Two…THRE, NO! Kickout by Fleisch. Lynn goes to the top rope but Fleisch cuts him off. The two battle on the top rope with Lynn drilling Fleisch in the face with right hands. Fleisch, in a leap of faith, jumps toward Lynn and kicks him in the face, knocking the champion off of the top rope and to the floor! Fleisch tosses Lynn in the ring and signals for the shooting star press. Coach, “This is one of his signature moves Joey!” Fleisch flies off of the top ropes but catches nothing but Jerry Lynn’s knees! Fleisch gets up and runs right into the boot of Jerry Lynn. Lynn picks up Fleisch and nails him with the ‘Cradle Piledriver!’ One…Two…THREE! Jerry Lynn retains!

Winner and STILL ECW Extreme Cruiserweight Champion: Jerry Lynn in 10:22

Lynn celebrates in the ring as Unwritten Law’s “Seein’ Red” plays and out walks the Amazing Red onto the stage. Red just looks down to the ring and smiles as Lynn is screaming for him to come on down. All of a sudden, Spanky comes out of the crowd and attacks Jerry Lynn from behind! Spanky clocks Lynn with rights and lefts. Spanky grabs a hold of Lynn’s head and drills him with ‘Sliced Bread #2!’ Red is laughing hysterically on the stage before exiting. Spanky celebrates in the ring holding the ECW Extreme Cruiserweight Title Belt before tossing it onto Lynn and leaving. Coach, “Was that an orchestrated attack by Spanky and Red?” Styles, “It sure as hell looked like it to me!”

The camera goes backstage into the very strange locker room of the Unholy Alliance. All the lights are shut out except for candles that are lit and sporadically placed all over the room. In the candlelight we see that the whole Unholy Alliance is present. They seem to be discussing something. Minister, “There is no one set leader in the Unholy Alliance, we are a brotherhood. Brother Richards is no better than Brother Daniels or anyone else here.” Richards, “I don’t believe that to be so. I am the only member here that is currently holding a title belt. I don’t see Brother Daniels holding any belts.” Daniels, “That is because you haven’t given me a title shot yet Brother Richards!” Richards, “Are you challenging me to a match Brother Daniels?” Daniels, “As a matter a fact I am! So what do you say Brother Richards?” Richards, “You’re on!” Minister, “Now boys lets…” Richards and Daniels, “SHUT UP!” Daniels, “I’ll see you out in the ring in about five minutes?” Richards, “Sounds good to me!” Daniels storms out of the locker room as Carnage goes to its first commercial break.

ECW World Television Championship
Stevie Richards w/ Spike vs. ‘The Dark Angel’ Chris Daniels w/ Mikey Whipwreck

Daniels and Richards are already in the ring and Bob Ortiz is ready to make his introductions. Ortiz, “This match is for the ECW World Television Championship! Introducing first is the challenger from Fayetteville, North Carolina weighing in at 224 pounds, he is the ‘Dark Angel’ CHRIIIIIIIIIIS DANIELS!!! And his opponent from Walingford, Connecticut weighing in at 220 pounds, he is the E…C…W World Television Champion STEEEEEEEEEVIE RICHARDS!!!” The bell rings and the match begins. Styles, “This is an unlikely title match considering that both men are in the Unholy Alliance!” Richards and Daniels dance around each other in the ring and then Richards slaps Daniels in the face! Daniels returns the favor and the two men begin to exchange right hands. Daniels backs Richards into the corner and lays in some stiff knife edge chops. Daniels whips Richards into the opposite corner but Richards floats over him, connecting with a german suplex! One…Two…THR, two and a half count. Richards locks Daniels in a front face lock and then slams him to the mat with a vertical suplex. Richards slides up and locks Daniels in a side headlock. Coach, “Richards has the advantage but do not count Daniels out. This past Monday he had a 20+ minute match with the debuting American Dragon where he came out victorious.” Daniels fights back to a standing position and pushes Richards off of the ropes. Richards bounces off of the ropes and is drilled with a standing dropkick from Daniels. Richards rolls to the outside to try and regroup. Daniels doesn’t give him much time, however, as he soars over the top rope nailing the champion with a pescado! Daniels grabs a hold of Richards and whips him into the steel guardrail. Spike tries to hold Daniels back but he shoves him away. Spike’s distraction gave Richards enough time to regroup and nail Daniels with a low blow. Richards grabs Daniels by the head and slams it off of the steel barricade. Daniels tries to crawl away from Richards but to no avail. The champ picks up a chair and crashes it across the back of Daniels. Daniels screams in pain as Richards tosses him back into the ring. Richards slingshots over the rope and connects with a leg drop. Richards goes for the cover. One…Two…THRE, NO! Daniels gets his left shoulder up. Richards picks up Daniels and boots him in the stomach. Richards bounces off of the ropes looking for a swinging neckbreaker but Daniels nails him in the stomach with a back elbow and then drops him with a Russian leg sweep. Both men are down as the referee starts his standard ten count. One … Two …Three … Both men begin to stir … Four … Daniels is on his knees … Five … Richards is pulling himself up using the ropes … Six … Seven … Daniels is on one knee … Eight … so is Richards … Nine … both men reach their feet and begin to exchange punches. All of a sudden Tajiri sprints to the ring! Tajiri slides into the ring and all of a sudden Daniels and Richards stop fighting! Coach, “Can you say ‘setup’ Joey?” Richards and Daniels level Tajiri with a pair of rights as the rest of the Unholy Alliance slides into the ring. Styles, “What a sick, twisted group! They went through all this trouble just to set Tajiri up!” Daniels picks up Tajiri and connects with a vicious brainbuster suplex. Spike grabs the head of Tajiri and delivers the ‘Acid Drop!’ Whipwreck scoops up a proned Tajiri and connects with the ‘Whipper Snapper!’ Tajiri is out cold but the Unholy Alliance is not done yet. Richards picks up Tajiri and drills him with the ‘Stevie T!’ Tajiri is knocked out but this is still not enough for the Unholy Alliance. Daniels gets down and locks in the ‘Angel Wings’ submission! Security runs into the ring and after a few minutes finally pries Chris Daniels off of the injured Tajiri. The Unholy Alliance exits the ring and the crowd boos hysterically. Tajiri is helped out of the ring. Styles, “With this attack one must wonder if Tajiri will be in any condition to compete this Sunday!”

Match ruled a No Contest

The camera goes backstage where we see the American Dragon enter the locker room. Dragon becomes irate when he finds that a bouquet of roses and a box of candy have been placed in his locker! Dragon grabs the card and opens it. The card reads, “I hope you enjoy your chocolate and flowers. I hope to be enjoying a piece of you very soon. With Love, Your Very Special ‘Angel” The American Dragon lets out a scream of rage and tears up the bouquet and chucks the box of candy across the room. He grabs his bags and leaves. Styles, “Good God! I know who is sending the American Dragon those things!” Coach, “It’s not you is it Joey?” Styles, “Hell No! Its Angel Coach!” Coach, “That is sick!” Styles, “I know Coach but at any rate up next is our Main Event as Chris Candido is challenging for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship! But before we go to the ring we have a special announcement. Starting next week here on Carnage, ECW’s weekly Thursday program will be expanding to 2 hours!” Coach, “That is a huge announcement! An extra hour of ECW entertainment every week? That is great!”

ECW World Heavyweight Championship
‘Mr. Network’ Rob Van Dam w/ Cyrus vs. ‘The New Franchise Player’ Chris Candido

AC DC’s “Welcome to the Jungle” plays and out comes the challenger, Chris Candido to an enormous amount of boos. Candido waits in the ring as Pantera’s “Walk” blasts and out comes the ECW Champion Rob Van Dam to huge heat. Ortiz, “This match is for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship!!! Introducing first is the challenger from Cherry Hill, New Jersey weighing in at 224 pounds he is the ‘New Franchise Player’ CHRIIIIISSSSSSSSSS CANDIDO!!! And his opponent from Battle Creek, Michigan weighing in at 220 pounds he is the E…C…W World Heavyweight Champion, ‘Mr. Network’ ROB…VAN…DAM!!!!!” The bell rings and the match begins. RVD turns his back on Candido and begins to taunt the crowd. Candido takes advantage and drills the champion in the backing, sending him into the corner.

[8:45-9:00]

Candido pulls RVD out of the corner and whips him off of the ropes, connecting with a back body drop. Candido whips RVD into the corner and follows him in with a clothesline. Candido picks up RVD and places him on the top rope. Candido goes up top looking for a superplex but RVD fights him off, knocking him to the mat. RVD leaps up and drills Candido with a split legged moonsault! One…Two…THRE, NO! Kickout by the challenger. RVD picks up Candido and whips him off of the ropes. Candido holds on so that he doesn’t bounce back to the champion. RVD charges and Candido back drops him over the top rope and to the floor! Candido goes on the outside and follows up with a stiff right hand. Candido then whips the champion hard into the steel guardrail. Candido follows up by slamming ‘Mr. Network’s’ head into the steel ring steps. Candido tries to do it again but RVD puts his foot up and slams Candido’s head off of the steps. The champion scoops up Candido and crotches him across the guardrail. Cyrus grabs a chair and puts it near Candido’s face. RVD climbs up on the apron, leaps off drilling Candido with a modified ‘Van Daminator!’ Instead of capitalizing, the champion rolls into the ring and begins to mock the crowd. This Birmingham crowd absolutely despises RVD, and some fans even begin to throw trash at him. RVD gets too caught up in the crowd and allows for Candido to recover. Candido sneaks back into the ring and clips RVD in the back on the knee. Styles, “A great move by Candido. If Candido can take the champion’s legs away from him, he will gain a distinct advantage.” RVD rolls around the ring, holding his knee and screaming in pain. Candido is relentless with stomps to the legs and body of Van Dam. Candido whips RVD into the opposite corner and RVD tries to float over, but Candido catches him and nails the champion with the concrete smash. Candido goes for the cover but only gets a two count. Candido grabs the champion by the hair and starts screaming at him. Candido, “Who’s the Franchise now? Who’s the man now?” Candido drills RVD across the face with vicious forearm shots. Coach, “Candido has snapped here Joey! He wants that ECW Title belt!” Candido picks up RVD and delivers a horrendous dragonscrew leg whip. Candido holds onto the leg and drives his elbow on the inside of Van Dam’s knee. Candido gets back up and lays in boots in the back of the leg of the champion. Candido grabs a hold of Van Dam’s left leg and locks him in the half crab. Coach, “If this isn’t a smack in the face to Lance Storm I don’t know what is! He is using Storm’s own finisher on Van Dam!” Candido wrenches back on the leg and Van Dam squeals in pain. RVD crawls toward the ropes an in a last ditch effort grabs the bottom rope, forcing Candido to break the hold. Styles, “The champion is in serious trouble here.” Candido goes on the outside and picks up a table and slides it into the ring. Candido comes back into the ring and sees that RVD is beginning to get back up. Candido runs over and drops an elbow to the back of the champion’s head. Candido takes the table and leans it against the second turnbuckle. Candido comes over to Van Dam and picks him up. Van Dam reaches his feet and hits Candido with a right hand. Candido attempts a right of his own but it is blocked. Van Dam lands two more right hands and then attempts a boot. Candido catches his foot but RVD steps through and drills Candido with a spinkick! Both men are down but trying to regain a vertical base. RVD gets up first and knocks down Candido with a low dropkick. Van Dam sprints off of the ropes and delivers ‘Rolling Thunder!’ One…Two…THRE, NO! Candido manages to get his left shoulder up. RVD sprints off of the ropes again and this time nails Candido with a cartwheel backflip splash! One…Two…THRE, NO! Candido kicks out again. RVD gets up and drills Candido in the back of the head with a corkscrew leg drop. Van Dam whips Candido into the turnbuckle. Van Dam looks for a somersault monkey flip but Candido explodes out of the corner mid move, drilling him with a clothesline. Candido attempts an irish whip into the table but it is countered by RVD. RVD tries for a bulldog through the table but Candido puts on the brakes. Candido attempts a belly to back suplex but RVD flips over and lands on his feet. Cyrus throws him in a chair and RVD tosses it to Candido. Candido ducks the ‘Van Daminator’ attempt and drills the champion with the ‘Candido Crusher’ through THE TABLE!!! “ECW! ECW! ECW!” Styles, “All Candido has to do is make the cover and he will become the ECW World Heavyweight Champion!” Candido drapes his arm over RVD. One…Two…THRE, NO! Lance Storm comes to ringside and pulls the referee out of the ring. Storm and the referee argue on the outside and are both hit with a suicide dive from Candido! Candido slides back into the ring and signals for another ‘Candido Crusher.’ RVD is unaware that Candido is standing behind him as he gets to his feet. Candido begins to make his move but is drilled from behind with a Singapore cane shot! The camera turns to see the Justin Credible is the one wielding the cane! Justin Credible scoops up Candido and nails him with ‘That’s Incredible!’ Credible admires his work as he is blindsided by Lance Storm! Storm and Credible roll to the floor fighting as RVD leaps to the top rope. Van Dam flies off of the top and connects with a ‘5 Star Frog Splash!’ Cyrus rolls the referee in the ring and he slowly makes the count One, Two, THREE! Rob Van Dam retains!

Winner and STILL ECW World Heavyweight Champion: ‘Mr. Network’ Rob Van Dam in 17:32

‘Prime Time’ Brian Lee and ‘The Enforcer’ CW Anderson run down to the ring and attack Lance Storm and Justin Credible. Those four men go at it as Rob Van Dam and Cyrus make a quick exit after just escaping an incredible title match with the gold still in tact. RVD and Cyrus celebrate and the fans boo and throw trash at the leaders of the Network. The boos soon turn to cheers when the fans see Rhyno sneak out from the back! Rhyno has a chair and is waiting for RVD to turn around. The champion doesn’t realize that the cheers are not for him but what is waiting for him. RVD turns around and is laid out with a sickening chairshot! Cyrus tries to escape but Rhyno grabs a hold of his ponytail! Styles, “YES!!! YES!!! Gore that son of a bitch! Gore that son of a bitch straight to hell!!!” Rhyno tosses Cyrus off of the stage and through a table lying below!!
