Chris Weidman will now need to have surgery to repair a meniscus issue, his coach told Newsday.
Weidman was scheduled to face Lyoto Machida at the end of May, but the bout has been pushed back to July and UFC 175.
“I have no reservations about July 5,” Longo said. “We’re just looking at this like we’re just pushing the fight back, that’s all.”
Dana White said losing Weidman “brutal” and said that UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta “told him to do (the surgery), just (to) get this thing out of the way.”
