The 5 Star Truth: McMahon's Downfall (Horror Story)
Date Added: October 31, 2004
Story By: Mike Steele
*NOTE*This is not your usual column. This is a horror/fantasy story based around WWE wrestlers. If you’re not into either one, don’t even bother reading it and sending me hate mail. For those of you who are, enjoy!
It all began with the start of a typical day of hustle and bustle at Titan Towers. Vince McMahon was preparing contracts on his desk for big name talent when his secretary buzzed his intercom. “What is it Judy? It better be important. I already told you I’m putting together some very big contracts.” She replied, “Oh it’s important sir. Paul Heyman and Paul Bearer are here to see you….”. “What in the hell?”, McMahon thought to himself. “Alright, send the bastards in Judy”. McMahon stood up from his comfortable leather office chair and adjusted himself while looking in the mirror on the wall. Judy lightly knocked on the door to let McMahon know she was at the door and in walked Heyman and Bearer. McMahon was slightly nervous because of the history these two men had in WWE and elsewhere. Their reputations weren’t exactly for the weak at heart. But Vince’s ego didn’t allow him to show any signs of his apprehension. “So gentlemen, and I use that term loosely, how may I help you?”. “Good question”, Heyman replied with a slight grin. “We came to talk to you about the change that’s coming in WWE”. “Change, what change?” McMahon responded, bewildered. “The change in power”, Bearer replied. “We just wanted to let you know that the McMahon era is over. No more Vince, no more Linda, no more Shane, and sure as hell no more billion dollar princess”, Heyman stated with confidence. McMahon began to chuckle which turned into a hysterical laugh. Not a genuine laugh but a laugh that says, “yea right”. “And just how do you plan to do that? I have the money, I have the contracts, I’m Vince McMahon god damn it!” “But you don’t have this…” Paul Bearer cried out as he reached in his mini duffle bag and took out an urn. “McMahon, this will be your down fall and the beginning of a new era, the era of Darkness!”, Heyman exclaimed. With that they left McMahon to let the events that just transpired sink in.
McMahon tried to forget what had happened in his office and tried to focus on tonight’s Smackdown from Miami, Florida and for the most part was successful. The whole night went even smoother than planned for a change, so far that is. It was time for the main event, Booker T and Undertaker vs. JBL and Heidenreich. It’s no secret that McMahon has greatly supported both JBL and Heidenreich and tonight was no different. He shouted over his headset to the camera men to focus on certain angles during the match. Seemingly into the 4th quarter of the match JBL had gained the upper hand by using a bull rope to choke out Undertaker who was now incapacitated. Booker T hit a Book End on Heidenreich who rolled out of the ring. He then hit a Scissors kick on JBL. He was starting to go for a quick Spinarooni when lightning struck the turnbuckle. Out came Paul Bearer and Paul Heyman. Bearer held out the urn and opened it up. Out came a beam of light that lit up the arena which was otherwise only lit by cameras flashing at this point. Undertaker sat up and stalked Booker T while he was facing Bearer and Heyman. Bearer sealed the urn again and the ring was no longer visible. Seconds later the arena lights came back on and every participant in the match had vanished. No signs of Taker, Booker, Heidenreich, or JBL. Heyman appeared on the Titan Tron. “McMahon, I already told you what would happen and now it has begun. I was able to convince the board of directors to fire Teddy Long and name a new General Manager of Smackdown…..ME! And as my first act as General Manager of Smackdown, I am making the Heavyweight Championship match at Survivor Series a Fatal Four Way between Undertaker, Booker T, Heidenreich, and JBL!” Paul Heyman walks out of view and the camera pans to Kane restraining some of the board of directors as they sign papers against their will.
It is now Survivor Series and the locker room is buzzing. McMahon asks security to find Paul Heyman and Paul Bearer and escort them out of the building, as they have the night off. They eventually find their office and Undertaker takes them all out in a few swift motions. Things have just taken a turn for the worst, two of the security personnel were killed by Taker’s explosive blows to the head. “Rest in Peace” is all he has to say. McMahon decides to leave before he becomes another victim of the Undertaker. Heyman and Bearer are still running the show unfortunately. Bearer talks to Billy Kidman and tells him to “knock ‘em dead tonight”. “Loud and clear”, Kidman replies. Tazz and Michael Cole show great concern. Kidman vs. Chavo is the first match on the card. The match is very sound but nothing of note takes place until late in the match. Kidman tries to nail Chavo with a chairshot out of desperation but he dropkicks it in Kidman’s face. The ref DQ’s him, not because what he did was illegal, but for the safety of both men considering what had happened earlier in the night. Paul Heyman comes out and tells the ref to take a hike, he can ref this match. He orders the match to restart and gets in the ring. Chavo starts walking towards Heyman in a threatening manner but Kidman blind sides him. “Get your ass up there!”, Heyman yells, pointing to the top turnbuckle. Tazz and Cole beg Kidman not to do it, wasting their breath. Kidman goes for a Shooting Star Press but purposely lands his knee right on Chavo’s head, scoring a fast 3 count. EMT’s come to the ring and try to help Chavo. He isn’t breathing and they try to revive him. It’s no use, he’s gone. Heyman and Kidman have the most satisfied grins on their faces. Cole and Tazz leave ring side, refusing to call the rest of the show.
Thankfully the rest of the matches proceed without incident. The only match left is the main event. Undertaker comes out dragging three coffins chained together in a row. His druids open them up one by one and pull out JBL, Booker T, and Heidenreich. Taker tosses them all into the ring. He tries to get a quick pin on JBL but he miraculously kicks out! Taker picks him up to give him a quick tombstone but Booker T jumps him from behind. JBL and Booker do their best to keep the Deadman down but he is just too strong. Heidenreich tries to help Taker to get on his good side but he takes him down as well. Taker goes to the outside and throws one of the coffins over the top ropes and into the ring! Heyman appears on the Titan Tron and states that the match is really a casket match and who ever is left outside of the casket is the winner and the WWE Champ! Paul Bearer joins Taker at ring side and holds up the urn to give him strength. Undertaker picks JBL up but he was only playing possum and gets a strong clothesline in on Undertaker. Taker immediately sits up and Booker tries to stomp him back down. Meanwhile Orlando Jordan runs down at ring side and takes out Bearer and runs off backstage with the urn. Taker manages to get all three of his opponents down once again and grabs the mic. “Orlando, this is what happens when you mess with the Undertaker”. Taker gets Heidenreich to his feet, snaps his neck, and throws him in the casket in the ring and shoves it out onto the floor. “Now it’s your turn to…REST….IN….PEACE”. Orlando is confused. Little does he know Kane is standing right behind him now. He takes Orlando and bangs his head into the wall until his skull is cracked and brain matter is hanging out. Kane is sadistically laughing as the camera goes back to the ring. Taker chokeslams Booker T and easily shoves him into the next casket. Now JBL is the only one left. JBL grabs a mic. “Look, I’ll tell you what. You can have my title. I don’t even need it, really. I was just getting tired of it anyways.” He tells the time keeper to hand him the belt. He then hands it to Taker. Taker looks at it, begins to walk away with it, and quickly turns right back around and busts JBL’s head wide open with it. He rolls JBL into the last casket with Bearer’s help and wins the WWE Title! The druids then proceed to set the caskets aflame! Booker T is definitely still alive and JBL is most likely just knocked out. They are being burned alive! Heyman and Bearer celebrate with Taker, Kane, and Kidman. Bearer gets on the mic and says, “Now there’s your damned ratings McMahon! The era of Darkness has officially begun, and it will never end!” Survivor Series goes off the air.
McMahon appears on the following Raw and announces that WWE has currently been suspended and there will be no shows for an indefinite period of time. Paul Bearer comes out and declares that that won’t change a thing as McMahon is still a dead man. McMahon takes a big gulp and demands that the cameras stop rolling. Raw goes off the air within the first ten minutes of the show.
McMahon flies home to his mansion in Greenwich where he discusses the future of WWE with Linda, Shane, Steph, and Triple H. They are all rather concerned for his personal safety instead. McMahon refuses to give in to his fear and tries to put his focus on business as usual. Vince decides to retire to his room for the day, hoping that this is all a nightmare he can wake up from. A storm is brewing and it‘s better not to go out anyways. When Vince awakens it is already midnight. “Damn, I slept over 12 hours. God am I starving.” “Starving for pain I hope, cause there’s plenty of that in store for you”, a high pitched voice cried from the corner of the room. All Vince could see in the moonlight was a fat little silhouette sitting in his chair by the window. It could only be one man….Vince sat up and went to turn on the lamp on his bed stand but it wouldn’t turn on. “I’m afraid the power’s been cut off by the storm”, the figure said as it struck a match and lit a lantern, revealing himself as none other than Paul Bearer. “How did you get in my house?! It’s gated and we have guards and dogs all over the premises” McMahon said angrily. “HAD guards and dogs Vince!”, Bearer shrilled. “Now they’re a part of the Ministry of Darkness, creatures of the night!”.
Vince’s head was spinning. His world was crazy enough, but at least he was the mad scientist controlling his own monster. For the first time in a long time he was at the bottom of the food chain. Vince was lost in thought when Kane broke down the door and grabbed Vince by the hair, dragging him down the long corridor. Paul Bearer laughed hysterically all the way as Vince begged and pleaded with him, offering large sums of money in exchange for his life back. Bearer just laughed and instructed Kane to throw him with the rest of the McMahons, in the basement. Kane tossed Vince down the short flight of stairs. Vince rubbed his head and looked around the dimly lighted room. There were three open caskets. Vince climbed to his feet and walked over to them. Shane, Linda, and Stephanie occupied them. They were all sleeping, seemingly peacefully. Triple H was no where to be found, most likely dead. He took a moment to pity Stephanie for her loss. He heard chanting coming from the hallway. He couldn’t make it out, it sounded like Latin and there were many voices in chorus. Hooded druids walked down the stairs, torches in hand. They formed two lines facing each other and crossed they’re torches. Paul Heyman walked through first, then Kane, followed by Paul Bearer who was carrying the urn and a large ancient looking book, and last came Undertaker. Some more druids came in carrying a large table with a cloth on it, an upside cross, and several candles. Vince just stood there watching, terrified to even think about what would happen next. The druids placed the candles on the floor in the form of a large pentagram, then set up the table as an alter and placed the upside down cross behind it. Bearer held out the large book for Undertaker to read from. Heyman instructed Kane to place Vince in the center of the pentagram. Kane picked up Vince by the throat and set him in the center of it. Undertaker began to speak. “Vince, you are about to experience the purity of evil. We are here on behalf of Satan to sacrifice your soul for power on Earth. If you resist, your family will pay dearly. A new leader will rise to power. One man will restore the WWE and bring forth the era of eternal Darkness. One man will lead the Ministry to world domination. That man is…..Triple H!” Vince was stunned. Of all the nasty and conniving things Vince had seen and encouraged Triple H to do, this was a million times worse. Never had Vince condoned murder let alone world domination for crying out loud. Triple H had betrayed the family and everything they had given him.
Triple H took Taker’s place in front of the alter. Taker bowed down to him briefly and began to read quietly from the book. Vince begin to get delirious. “Of all the disgusting things you’ve done and that I’ve allowed you to get away with, you turn on me and my family now?!”, he shouted as blood rushed to his face. Vince begin to speak again but Triple H interrupted him. “You’re damn straight. You’re a sick old man but you never had the balls to take it to this level. Wrestling will rule the world and so will I. I’m making the childhood dream come true Vince. And yea, I banged your daughter to high hell to get into this family. I learned so much from you by the way.” Triple H laughed at his words, proud of everything he’d done. “And I changed my mind about giving you the option of cooperating or making your family suffer. You see, you’re going to give up your soul and I’m going to let Kane work his magic on your loved ones. Except for Steph that is. She is carrying my child after all. And there’s nothing you can do to stop any of this, so just sit back and enjoy the show while you can.”
“What makes you think this is over Hunter? Before those two balding fat asses over there walked into my office I was working on some contracts for some very big stars. And it just so happens, I signed them! First, I signed Stone Cold Steve Austin, then I resigned Mordecai! You’re not the only ones with a bag of magic tricks. Just then the door to the basement flooded with white light and in walked Mordecai. He threw down his staff and Heyman ran and tried to climb out of a thin window near the ceiling of the basement, but no luck. Mordecai pulled him down as Heyman clawed at the muddy grass outside. He threw Heyman against the wall, cracking his skull open as blood gushed out. The druids attacked him but he quickly cleaned house. Taker threw his arm down and a bolt of electricity hit Mordecai in the chest. “Yes! Yeeessss!”, Bearer screamed. Suddenly Austin came down the stairs with a rifle in hand, shooting down the remaining druids and putting a hole in Kane’s chest. Taker wrestled the gun away from him, clocked Austin with the handle, and bent the barrel with his bare hands. Mordecai took a torch and whacked Taker in the head with it, sending him down, hair on fire and all. Bearer began to read from the book and a bright flame rose in the middle of the pentagram. Out walked a Frankenstein like monster, made of several body parts from the wrestlers murdered during Survivor Series, mostly Heidenreich, Booker T, and JBL. He, or it, was burned from head to toe. Mordecai struck it on the head with his staff but it didn’t budge. Vince had snuck around behind Bearer and snapped his neck. He took hold of the urn and opened it, resurrecting the Undertaker. The monster had Mordecai down and on the edge of death. Undertaker picked up the monster and Tombstoned it in the middle of the Pentragram sending it back to hell. He kicked over the candles, breaking the Pentagram. Kane rose to his feet but Austin gave him a fatal Stone Cold Stunner. The rest of the McMahons awakened. Vince commanded Taker to climb into one of the caskets which Vince later buried him in with the help of Austin and Shane.
Triple H had disappeared, and so had Stephanie. Vince had to wonder if she’d been in on it all too, but just hoped to track them down soon enough to save his grandchild from an evil upbringing. Vince managed to salvage his company and brought it back to normal. He ended the brand split and made the Royal Rumble match for the WWE title where Austin won it. Mordecai quickly climbed the ranks as a heel and became Austin’s biggest adversary, until Wrestlemania came around that is, where ________ returned to defeat Austin and become the new WWE Champion.
