“Stone Cold” Steve Austin on Why the Attitude Era was So Special & More

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin spoke with Mike Dunsmore of NBC about the possibility of a match against CM Punk.

“That’s a good question. Right now, I’ve been gone 10, 11 years and I’ve been focusing on doing the things that I’ve done to make my way as Steve Austin in the business world trying to, you know, make a living. I’ve been having a blast doing my reality television. I act as much as I want to, one or two independent films a year. And I just started podcasting with my Steve Austin Show podcast, which has been very successful. I’m occupying my time. I’m really focused on what I’m doing.”

Austin also commented on why the Attitude Era was so special.

“I don’t know. I guess it came along at the right time and the right place. It was just an aggressive time. Vince was ready to go for it. WCW was doing their thing over on Monday Nitro. It was great head to head competition. Each week on Monday night, you had two heavyweights throwing everything but the kitchen sink at each other on a week in week out basis. It was go for broke. Every Monday was a main event that you must watch, the whole show from start to finish. Competition turns out the best in everybody and it did during that period of wrestling.”

Layla Holding a HUGE Gun…..

  1. ” why the Attitude Era was so special”? because there was heated competition between WCW, WWE, and ECW but that ended after 2001.

  2. True that. A lot of unprecedented things happened during this period of time that never will again. It would’ve been interesting to see how the outcome of the Monday Night Wars would’ve been affected had WCW kept the belt on Goldberg. I’m not saying that the WWE wouldn’t have won because there was a lot going wrong at WCW at the time, but it would’ve been a tougher climb for sure.
