West End Wrestling Giving Back to the Community

by -

WEWWest End Wrestling is a new upcoming wrestling promotion in Stowe, Pennsylvania owned and operated by Andrew Hums.  West End Wrestling was basically established to help out with the fundraising efforts of West End Fire Company #1 in Stowe, Pennsylvania. West End Wrestling will have its first event on Saturday September 27th, 2014 entitled “Burin Down The House” with the headlining match “Eddie Kingston vs Danny Havoc”.  West Ending Wrestling have done a tremendous job promoting this event, gaining fans and followers through their social media outlets, but more importantly bring awareness to their fundraising efforts for West End Fire Company #1.

Pro Wrestling Smark Talk recently conducted an interview with the Owner/Promoter of West End Wrestling Andrew Hums as we discuss his background, West East Wrestling and West End Fire Company #1.

1) Andy, please describe your wrestling/business background and what inspired you to get involved in the wrestling industry.

Andrew Hums: “I got involved behind the scenes and on the production side of independent wrestling in late 2004. I’ve been a lifelong fan of wrestling in general, but a wonderful opportunity presented itself at that time so I had no choice but to accept the offer that was given and it’s been a hell of a ride since”.

2) Andy can please provide my blog readers, the history of West End Wrestling.

Andrew Hums: “Unfortunately there really is no history to West End Wrestling at this time, as it is the debut show. If the first event is a success both behind the scenes and in front of the live crowd, future events certainly will be considered”.

3) Andy can you provide some background information on West End Fire Co #1 and why your promotion is so heavily involved in fundraising?

Andrew Hums: “The reason the promotion is named West End Wrestling is very simply because this is my personal home base. I grew up in Stowe, PA and lived there for 25 years. It has always been referred to as “The West End of Town” and considered a part of Pottstown, while technically not falling within the city limits of Pottstown. The fire company itself was established in 1912 and has been up and running since. The fire house is centrally located within Stowe and has always been on a volunteer basis. I grew up a few blocks from the Fire Co. and my father was the Chief at the station for 23 years until he was no longer able to physically enter working structures due to open heart surgery, thus why I feel so strongly about giving back to West End as it has always been something I’ve been around and is a very integral part of the community”.

4) What’s the overall fundraising goal for this event?

Andrew Hums: “While there is no set goal for the event, we would like to be able to make a donation at the end of the show hopefully large enough to offset the cost of some new safety equipment and building upgrades”.

5) Andy what talents and matches been announce so far?

WEW2Andrew Hums: “There is a wide variety of talent from many large independent promotions that are helping out with this event. Our Double Main Event will feature: Eddie Kingston vs. Danny Havoc in a first time encounter as well as Tim Donst vs. Matt Tremont, also a first time encounter. There is a multitude of other talent that will be appearing as well. Icarus, Akuma, Chris Dickinson, Jaka, Hallowicked, Annie Social, Dasher Hatfield, Amber Rodriguez, Mark Angelosetti, Lucky Thurteen, Devon Moore and others have all agreed to be a part of this loaded event as well”.

6) Andy for wrestling fans whom cannot make it to the event physically but want to help in your fundraising efforts, how could they assist?

Andrew Hums: “ For fans unable to attend the event but would still like to donate to West End Fire Co. they can do so by calling (610) 326- 5777. They can also contact their local fire company and make a donation to their station as well as it will only help better serve their community”.

7) Andy, how can fans reach West End Wrestling via social media?

Andrew Hums: “Fans can get in contact with West End Wrestling by either emailing us at WestEndWrestling57@gmail.com , on Facebook atwww.facebook.com/WestEndWrestling or via Twitter @WestEndWrestlng (no “i” in wrestling)”.
