THE #4 REASON YOU SHOULD WATCH SLAMMIVERSARY IS… EDDIE EDWARDS AND KILLER KROSS MIGHT ACTUALLY KILL EACH OTHER

Perhaps my favorite result of the Don Callis/Scott D’Amore era is the total transformation of the Eddie Edwards character. As a long-time fan of Ring of Honor I always liked Eddie, but as a singles guy he was sort of shoehorned into this role of being the safe, dependable worker that could go out and tear the house down with anybody. He wasn’t what I would consider to be a “character” wrestler.

Aaaaand now he’s a total lunatic that gets off on violence and may, or may not have undergone a complete mental breakdown over the past 17 months. A lengthy program with Sami Callihan, where he legitimately took a baseball bat to the face, shattering his orbital bone, turned Eddie into a psycho. Then at some point he became the reincarnation of Sandman, I think… I don’t know, but it’s awesome.

And then there’s Killer Kross, who I consider to be one of the most believable villainous wrestlers on the planet. There are some guys that just have that “IT” factor and he’s one of them. I enjoy him in the ring, but it’s actually his character-building stuff like the recent promos with Edwards that I’m drawn to the most. There are moments where I genuinely believe Kross is a monster who would murder me and my entire family, if given the opportunity. I say this with all due respect – he’s like a really good soap opera villain.

Anyways… After Eddie maybe, definitely, quite possibly bit his face off in a backstage display of raw violence and masochism, Kross appeared in a church, and we got this gem of a First Blood match. I am so genuinely excited for this one.
