6/3 NJPW Best of the Super Juniors Semifinals Preview: 8 Huge Matches, Coverage Info, How to Watch & More

This Sunday morning the NJPW Best of the Super Juniors tournament comes to a head at the world famous Korakuen Hall, as sixteen of the best junior heavyweight wrestlers on the planet will be whittled down to just two finalists.

The penultimate event will feature eight tournament matches, brought to you live on New Japan World, complete with full English commentary, All sixteen competitors will be in action; some looking to hold on to their lead, while others desperately battle for the two points that could put them over the edge and into the finals. Many have already been mathematically eliminated from contention, but a single win or loss could still drastically effect the outcome of the entire tournament.

It’s been an incredibly tight race this year, with three names left in each block still in contention heading into the semifinals. Looking at the A Block, if Bullet Club’s newest member Taiji Ishimori wins he’s guaranteed a spot in the finals. Will Ospreay and Flip Gordon will face each other with the winner advancing only if Ishimori loses his match to YOH of Roppongi 3K.

In the B Block it’s a bit more simple, as long-time rivals Kushida and Hiromu Takahashi will face off with the winner advancing. However, if the two fight to a time limit draw and Marty Scurll picks up a victory over SHO of Roppongi 3K, mathematically he will advance to the finals. So interestingly enough, the former IWGP Jr. Tag Team Champions are each playing the role of potential upsets for their respective blocks.

The NJPW Best of the Super Juniors Semi-Finals kicks off Sunday morning at 5:30 a.m. EDT on New Japan World.
