Anthem Sports & Entertainment founder and CEO Len Asper recently spoke with MultiChannel News about the recent purchase of AXS TV & HDNet, and the layoffs that followed the purchase. Asper said that Anthem laid off approx. 30-40 people from AXS TV, leaving the network with roughly 100 employees.
Asper also noted that most of the firings were due to redundancies. He also disputed the claim that AXS TV’s Dallas office had been shuttered, but gave no specifics as to how many Dallas employees remain at the Mark Cuban-owned office.
Cuban recently gave out company-wide bonuses this summer which, when paired with what is said to be “substantial” severance packages, were designed to soften the financial blow of the layoffs.
