Backstage News On Samoa Joe And Rey Mysterio’s WrestleMania 35 Match

A new report by Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio has provided more information on Samoa Joe and Rey Mysterio’s WrestleMania match.

The match lasted just one minute with Joe picking up a dominant victory in his WrestleMania debut, defending his United States Championship by choking out Rey Mysterio with the Coquina Clutch.

It had been speculated that this was done due to Mysterio’s recent ankle injury as a way of keeping him on the card but not pushing his limits, but according to Meltzer that was not the case, instead it was simply cut due to time restraints in order to make sure the show didn’t go on too long.

In regards to Mysterio’s son, Dominik, he had been promoted for an appearance at ringside and because of that people had expected some form of angle involving the trainee wrestler. Those plans were clearly dropped as he wasn’t shown on camera, however, Dominik was backstage at the show.
