Backstage News on The Rumble Match, Did WWE Consider Bryan?, More

– At no point did WWE consider putting Daniel Bryan into the 30-man Royal Rumble match on Sunday.

– The decision was made to replace Bad News Barrett and Xavier Woods with JBL and El Torito in the Rumble match.

– The feeling within WWE was that this year’s 30-man Rumble match was a good one but there were no real highlights besides the Kofi Kingston spot. One reason for this is officials didn’t start laying out the match with the wrestlers in the arena until 6pm in the evening. Jamie Noble was the head agent for the match so everything falls on him.

They should’ve left Barrett and Woods, JBL and Torito was such a waste.

jbl was a cool surpirize and the rumble would have done s*** for barrett

I think JBL’s face when he got back to his seat alone made it worth it. Woods would’ve been cool to see but I wouldn’t cry if I never saw Barrett again.

Torito was huge surprize and it showed him off a bit, JBL was a waste of a spot.

The Rumble was mediocre at best. I can live with JBL being in the match, although a better showing was expected, but having El Torito in the match was a slap in the face of fans who were expecting to see Daniel Bryan or even an appearance by Jake Roberts. Even more inexcusable was booking El Torito to eliminate Fandango. Not even a year ago Fandango won his debut match at WrestleMania against Chris Jericho. Now they are booking Fandango like this? I personally despised Fandango when he was new but the character has grown on me. You know who didn’t grow on me? HHH. Alberto Del Rio. John Cena. Randy Orton. Batista and a slew of others. WWE is over-saturated with bland and recycled characters. Maybe they should pull a card from the 90’s and give gimmicks the chance they deserve. Surprise me. The WWE has forgotten how to do that I’m afraid. I would totally be into seeing someone like Fandango or Kofi Kingston being taken seriously for a top spot on television. Mic work doesn’t always make the wrestler. In my opinion, the WWE has had an epic fail rate of about 95% over the last couple of years at least. Time for them to nut up. WWE2K14 has better story lines than this current product.
