Backstage News On Who In WWE Hired Jeremy Borash, Which Brand He Will Report To & Matt Hardy Speculation

As we noted earlier today, WWE has hired longtime Impact Wrestling employee and announcer Jeremy Borash. According to, the decision to hire Borash was made by Triple H, and Borash will reportedly be assigned to the WWE NXT brand and the Performance Center.

Borash was a key creative player in Matt Hardy’s Broken character in Impact Wrestling, and although he was credited for working closely with Hardy on the Broken Universe content, it doesn’t appear Borash and Hardy will be working together in the immediate future in WWE. As for Borash’s WWE start date, that has yet to be revealed, but NXT is taping TV this week at Center Stage in Atlanta, so he could begin as early as Thursday night.

With regards to his Impact Wrestling status, Borash filmed some Impact content at the House of Hardcore event over Royal Rumble weekend, and did commentary work for Impact Wrestling last week. It appears as if those were his final Impact dates, and he leaves the company in somewhat of a creative bind. Impact will likely have to alter its creative direction significantly following Borash’s departure, as plans called for Josh Mathews to move into more of a character role on Impact TV playing Matt Sydal’s “spiritual guide”. Plans also called for Borash and Don Callis to handle commentary, but that plan will of course change with Borash’s exit.

Borash had been with TNA/Impact Wrestling since 2002, and had always been considered a big help to the company, so him leaving has to be looked at as a major loss for Impact.
