WWE Smackdown will be celebrating its 1000th episode on Tuesday, October 16th live from Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. Among the names confirmed for the show are of course WWE Champion AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe, the “Charismatic Enigma” Jeff Hardy, and even a rare appearance from The Undertaker!
One name that probably won’t be appearing at Smackdown 1000, however, is a name that helped put the blue brand on the map for many years – six-time world champion Dave “The Animal” Batista.
The big man has been very outspoken about wanting to make a return to the ring work out, depending on his hectic Hollywood scheduling of course, but he’s been getting the gold shoulder from his former employer for quite awhile now. Batista noted on Twitter on Wednesday night, responding to a fan, that he wasn’t even invited to be a part of the show, which takes place in his hometown.
WWE leaving Big Dave on read is one of the more bizzare decisions we can’t seem to figure out. One would think they would be champing at the bit to work with a future Hall of Famer, especially one who was recently praised for his work in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War – a movie that single-handedly generated one-third of what WWE is worth in total.
Surprise surprise!! I wasn’t invited! And it’s in my hometown.! 😳.. guess by now I shouldn’t be shocked anymore. https://t.co/r1NwUNlRnf
