It’s been another action-packed week of wrestling, from shows on a cruise ship to the build towards the WWE Royal Rumble take place. We had amazing wrestling matches and some fantastic storyline development take place by all four brands.
Of course, for WWE things were heated up ahead of tonight’s WWE Royal Rumble and yesterdays WWE Worlds Collide, and that helped all three shows develop nicely. While AEW Dynamite also felt streamlined towards the upcoming AEW Revolution PPV.
We had three title changes this week that has had everyone talking and once again it was another tough week to rank these shows. So, who’s ready to break it down?
Sadly, the blue brand takes the bottom spot once again this week, despite the fact there were some incredibly impressive moments. The opening six-man tag team match between The Bloodline and King Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, and Robert Roode was fantastic.
Taking up the first 30 minutes of the show, the six men told an incredible story. With Jimmy Uso excellently selling his injury to raise the stakes of the entire match. As well as that there was another good showing for John Morrison, but sadly the show did still have many moments that didn’t quite work.
The contract signing at the end of the show produced one of the worst reactions to The Fiend so far, while the segment involving Fire & Desire and Alexa Bliss and her partner, Nikki Cross really was disappointing to see.
3. WWE Raw
Despite the disappointing way that Matt Hardy was booked this week, WWE Raw was once again absolutely fantastic this week. The show continues to build on the previous week and develop storylines excellently in order to gain as much hype for the upcoming PPV, in this case, tonight’s Royal Rumble.
Even though the match ended in no contest, the bout between Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre was once again solid as the Scotsman continues to be built as a top babyface.
We also had some amazing matches this week with an unforgettable ladder match between Rey Mysterio and Andrade and the surprise moment that saw Buddy Murphy and Seth Rollins become the new Raw Tag Team Champions.
2. AEW Dynamite
AEW Dynamite just edged out Monday Night Raw this week in my ratings (which was a tough choice), mainly based on just how unique the setting of the entire show was. Taking place on Chris Jericho’s cruise, the look and feel of the show was absolutely incredible.
This week saw some brilliant work take place again on the show, with the storyline between Cody Rhodes and MJF being built well. Things clicked nicely from start to finish this week, and with no Nightmare Collective or Dark Order segments, this episode seemed to benefit.
While the main event match didn’t work for me, with everything feeling a little too slow in pace, it was more than made up for with the opening tag team bout. The first-ever title change in AEW’s history took place and the storytelling that is subtly being done with Hangman Page really is excellent work.
The black and yellow brand take the top spot this week with another fantastic episode. There was plenty of brilliant moments throughout this show, developing storylines with a great mix of fantastic matches and backstage segments.
Once again we had two fantastic tag team matches to continue the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic that didn’t disappoint. Alongside that there was some solid build towards WWE Worlds Collide as well, helping to make the show as entertaining as possible.
Of course, the main highlight of the episode this week came from the main event when Keith Lee won the North American Championship, defeating Roderick Strong in a great match. This was the most memorable moment to take place in the week of wrestling so far, and it was a huge moment for the Limitless One.
