Recently-retired MMA Fighter Conor McGregor is currently under investigation for sexual assault, according to the New York Times. McGregor allegedly assaulted an unnamed woman in December, but has yet to be formally charged with a crime. The news comes directly after McGregor announced his retirement from UFC on Tuesday.
Irish media have been reporting on the case since word broke in December, but have yet to name McGregor, as Irish law prohibits media from naming the subject of the investigation until charges have been formally filed. The Times was able to confirm McGregor as the subject via “four people familiar with the case.”
Lawyers for McGregor have yet to comment. McGregor’s publicist said, “We don’t comment on rumors.”
