BREAKING: G1 Supercard World Title Bout is Now a Triple Threat Ladder Match

Matt Taven has been added to the Ring of Honor World Championship bout at the G1 Supercard event in Madison Square Garden on April 6. He will face current champ Jay Lethal and Marty Scurll, who earned his opportunity by winning the Survival of the Fittest in November of 2018

The bout will be a Triple Threat Ladder Match. The announcement came during a TV taping on March 16, one night after Taven worked a sixty minute match with Jay in a losing effort for the world title.

That match set up this huge showdown and it’s understandable that ROH would go as big as possible. The G1 Supercard is a joint promotion between Ring of Honor and New Japan Wrestling and is taking place in WWE’s backyard.

Indeed, New York and more specifically, Madison Square Garden, has always been associated with Vince McMahon’s company. But when ROH and New Japan secured the event and sold out within a matter of minutes, it became clear that a new day had arrived in the pro wrestling business.

All of this means that Ring of Honor must deliver the best talent and the best matches possible. This World title match now feels much more important than it did before and Taven will surely heighten the drama of the match when it goes down on April 6.
