Two Major Title Changes Take Place at ROH Final Battle; Did Cody Rhodes Retain the Gold?

It’s official… Dalton Castle has defeated the “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes in the closing match of Ring of Honor Final Battle to become the brand new ROH World Champion.

In a wild brawl that saw Castle’s boys and Cody’s wife Brandi Rhodes ejected from ringside after physically inserting themselves into the match on multiple occasions, it looked like the final decision could go either way. At one point near the end the challenger had a devastating submission move locked in and actually forced Cody to tap out, but an incapacitated couldn’t make the call. The champion then hit his signature manuever, the Cross Rhodes, but it wasn’t enough to end the bout as Castle became the first man in ROH history to kick out of the finisher.

Dalton Castle wasn’t the only new champion crowned at Final Battle. Silas Young outlasted three other men in a crazy four-way elimination match to become the brand new ROH World Television Champion. Shane Taylor was the first man eliminated from the bout after a Royal Flush from then-champion Kenny King, but it was Punishment Martinez who got the pin after a huge springboard moonsault.

King was eliminated second, setting up a scenario where a new champion had to be crowned, and ultimately Young walked away with the gold with a little assist from Beer City Bruiser.
