As previously reported, Brian Cage was rushed to the hospital on Sunday night just moments after winning the Impact World Championship at the Impact Rebellion pay-per-view in Toronto.
In an update to that situation, Cage appeared on SiriusXM’s Busted Open radio show earlier today to confirm that he suffered a bone bruise and some inflammation following a Spanish Fly executed by Johnny Impact just three minutes or so into their world title match, sending them crashing from the entrance ramp to the floor.
The expectation was that Cage wouldn’t have to take any time away from the ring. However, the new champion did not appear at Monday night’s television taping, and his trip to the hospital was written into a new story involving the newly debuted Michael Elgin.
That means Cage won’t be appearing on television this week or next week, but the promotion will be taping more this coming weekend, so we’ll have more information on his condition at that point.
