AAA has officially announced the top matches for next weekend’s “Invading NY” event at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater.
The show will be broadcast live on FITE TV and as noted by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Impact Wrestling will be a part of the branding in exchange for AAA using their license to promote in New York.
As of now it will be a 7-match card with the legends Blue Demon Jr. and Dr. Wagner Jr. facing off in a main event rematch from their heavily praised Triplemania bout.
Second from the top will be the second in-ring performance of UFC legend Cain Velasquez, who will team with Impact World Champion Brian Cage and Psycho Clown to take on the trio of Black Taurus, Scorpion King and Texano Jr.
Also confirmed is Tessa Blanchard defending the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship against the reigning (and longest reigning ever) Impact Knockouts Champion Taya Valkyrie.
This is an interesting one, not because we haven’t seen it before, but because of the impending political ties. The Lucha Brothers will defend the AAA World Tag Team Championships against Santana and Ortiz (promoted as LAX) in what could be the last time we see that match for a long time outside of an AEW ring.
The opening three matches will be announced at a later date.
