IWGP Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho was a guest on today’s episode of Busted Open Radio on Sirius XM Fight Nation 93, and during the interview Jericho was asked about a potential appearance or match at next year’s big ROH and NJPW G1 Supercard event at Madison Square Garden over WrestleMania 35 weekend.
“If there’s a match that’s presented to me that’s interesting and if I’m free…why not?,” admitted Jericho. “I’m really kind of enjoying this free agency.”
Lately, Jericho has been loosening his stance on not working for any company in The United States besides WWE, as he made a surprise appearance at “ALL IN” over Labor Day weekend. During a recent episode of his “Talk Is Jericho” podcast, Jericho explained how his appearance at “ALL IN” came together despite him first telling Cody Rhodes he was not interested in working outside of WWE in the U.S.
“I’m not really wanting to work any shows in the states that aren’t WWE shows”, Jericho told Rhodes. “For various reasons. I just didn’t feel it was where I was at career-wise. So I told him I appreciated the offer, but I’m not gonna do it. I also got asked to do Long Beach and those New Japan and all that other stuff as well, so that was kind of the thing. But over the course of the last few months, my mindset’s kind of changed a bit to where I’m enjoying being a part of this kind-of new revolution of wrestling that’s going on… So I just thought, well, you know, I’ll consider it, but the idea has to be right.”
