Chris Jericho Responds to Triple H’s Promo from Raw in New Interview

Chris Jericho spoke with about Triple H’s recent promo on Raw where he referred to himself, Rob Van Dam and Edge as talented stars who were never “the guy” for the company.

“That’s his opinion, and as somebody that was a six-time World Champion and main evented pay-per-views for years, was I ever the guy? Well, no, but who was?” Jericho replied. “I think if you look over the last 15 years in WWE, you’ve got Rock, Austin, Hogan and Cena. I wasn’t the guy… I just know that I had great matches pretty much every night. I had great rapport with the fans. I could make them love me or hate me depending on what I wanted, so I don’t know what more you can say.”

Jericho mentioned that he wasn’t angry with Triple H, but both Triple H and himself were “always the guys who worked with the guy.” He also mentioned that while he believes that Triple H is one of the greatest of all time, he could match him in every area.

HHH was good. But he’s not in my top 10. His first few WWE title reigns were only because they were ramming him down our throats. After about his 5th or 6th, he was a worthy champion. Before that, he wasn’t that good. My top 10 of all time:
    1. Brock Lesnar
    2. Kurt Angle
    3. Hulk Hogan
    4. Steve Austin
    5. The Roc
    6. Ric Flair
    7. John Cena
    8. Verne Gagne
    9. Harley Race
    10. Edge
I know what your gonna say. No HBK? I’m basing my 10 ten on accomplishments, earning power, and dominance. Because Brock Lesnar won a UFC title and Kurt Angle won a Gold Medal, they are respectively 1 and 2. The rest is arguable. HBK, to me, was good, like Bret Hart. But not a top 10 guy. Hogan, Austin, and the ROC won several titles, were each dominant in their own way, and were the highest grossing wrestlers ever. Ric Flair was on top for a long time, and made a lot of money doing it (Although its nothing like the top guys make today). John Cena (Like him or not) has earned his spot with his dominance for the last decade and sells merchandise like crazy.Gagne and Race were the face of their respective company for a long time, genuine tough guys, and outstanding in the ring. And Edge won the title something like 10 times, owns victories over guys like Randy Orton and John Cena, and finished his career on a high note defeating Alberto Del Rio in World Title defense at Wrestlemania. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.

I can’t respect your opinion here as you spelt The Rock’s name incorrectly twice. Also, based on your criteria, HHH should be on the list, because whether you like him or not ( as you say for Cena’s inclusion), HHH beat all of these guys ( apart from Race and Gagne).
