During a recent interview with The Associated Press to promote his new MMA commentary role, CM Punk spoke about fans still chanting his name at WWE shows.
Even though it has calmed down lately, on occasion it has been known for the WWE Universe to break out in CM Punk chants, especially when the company is in Chicago or there is a segment or decision the WWE fans don’t like.
Punk stated: “You stop it and five years later people still talk about you? Fans still chant your name? That’s powerful to me. I don’t pay attention. People seem to get upset when I say that.”
CM Punk has been gone from WWE since the Royal Rumble in 2014 and hasn’t had anything to do with wrestling ever since, rarely even discussing the topic.
After a failed UFC career that saw Punk finish up with a 0-2 loss record, the former WWE Champion is now embarking on a new role within the sport of MMA as a broadcaster.
Punk, who was always known as an excellent talker during his career will be working as a commentator for the Cage Fury Fighting Championship promotion.
