WWE has officially announced that Samoa Joe will face Big Cass on next week’s episode of Smackdown Live, with the winner earning the final spot in the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match for next month’s pay-per-view.
This week’s Smackdown kicked off with Daniel Bryan mixing it up with Cass as their ongoing rivalry hit an all-time high. The leader of the Yes Movement brutally beat down his foe before locking the seven-footer in an expert submission, refusing to break the hold until a host of referees and officials came out to separate them.
It’ll be interesting to see how things go down when WWE returns to the U.S. next Tuesday night, as Cass won’t exactly have an easy route to Money in the Bank with an angry Samoan gunning for him, and a pissed off Bryan looking to keep him out of the bout by any means necessary. Whoever does qualify will join Braun Strowman, Bobby Roode, Finn Balor, Rusev, The Miz, Kevin Owens and one member of the New Day to be determined at a later date.
Also on next week’s Smackdown Live, the “Ravishing Russian” will make a somewhat rare in-ring appearance when she returns to action to take on Billie Kay of the IIconics. The winner will join the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Lana has promised that her and Rusev will be the first husband-and-wife MITB winners, while Billie will be looking to make sure that doesn’t happen.
