Last night it was confirmed that Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss will face off against WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus at the upcoming WWE Evolution all-women’s pay-per-view event on October 28th. The match was officially announced after a photo was accidentally leaked early around the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
According to Dave Meltzer, the main event for WWE Evolution as of this week is for Ronda Rousey to face Nikki Bella. On Saturday night’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio Meltzer noted that the idea is that the two are the most popular mainstream names the company has in the women’s division; Ronda being a household name in the sports and entertainment world, and Nikki through reality television and her high profile relationship with John Cena.
Rousey is scheduled to face Alexa Bliss this evening at WWE SummerSlam with the Raw Women’s Championship on the line. The company has advertised that each title will be defended at Evolution, so if the former UFC icon takes the gold in Brooklyn this weekend, it would stand to reason that her match with Nikki would be for the title.
