Four Weeks of Ring of Honor Television Taping Results *SPOILERS*

Ring of Honor held its monthly television taping event in Las Vegas this past weekend, following a successful Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view that saw Cody Rhodes retain the ROH World Championship against Japanese pro wrestling legend Minoru Suzuki.

The taping will take the company through the rest of September and several weeks into October. The next stop on the calendar is a series of co-produced events between Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling – the annual “Global Wars” tour – kicking off on October 12th.

Episode #1

– Jay Briscoe kicked off the taping to explain why he turned on Bully Ray at Death Before Dishonor. Tommy Dreamer made a surprise appearance to come to the defense of his long-time friend, talking about his toughness in the face of his own mother passing away. Briscoe was unapologetic and walked out.

– ROH World TV Champion Kenny King def. Josh Woods. After the bout, the brand new champion issued a challenger to all comers. It was answered by Chuck Taylor, Punishment Martinez, Mark Briscoe and Shane Taylor who all wanted a shot. A four-way match was set up with the winner getting a title match.

– Kushida vs. Scorpio Sky went to a “no contest” decision. Christopher Daniels and Kazarian attacked both men just because they could, causing the referee to throw out the match.

– The Bullet Club came out to film footage for Being The Elite. Cody Rhodes announced that he had signed an exclusive contract with Ring of Honor, the most lucrative big money deal in the promotion’s history. He got everyone excited for a title defense by hyping up his opponent…then brought out Cheeseburger.

– ROH World Champion Cody Rhodes def. Cheeseburger. Cody got the win by submission after toying with his opponent.

– The Kingdom def. ROH Tag Team Champions The Motor City Machine Guns & Jonathan Gresham in a six-man tag team match. The Kingdom is playing up a gimmick that there’s a conspiracy out against them. Taven pinned Sabin surprisingly.

– Bully Ray came out without music, and apologized to the crowd, saying that his doctor told him he couldn’t be around loud noises or bright flashing lights because of serious head trauma sustained from Jay Briscoe. He said that he wanted revenge, but instead has to consider retiring from pro wrestling altogether after what happened. Mark Briscoe came out and the two hugged, and left together.

Episode #2

– “The Villain” Marty Scurll def. Jay White.

– Rhett Titus & Will Ferrara def. The Tempura Boyz. Surprisingly a straight forward, normal wrestling match after all the recent stuff between Titus and Ferrara.

– Mark Briscoe def. Chuck Taylor, Shane Taylor and Punishment Martinez in a Four Corners Survival match. Sexy Chuckie T was super over in this match. Afterwards Jay Briscoe came out and screamed at his brother for not putting their team before his own personal interests.

Episode #3

– Jonathan Gresham def. TK O’Ryan via disqualification. A brawl between Motor City and The Kingdom broke out leading to the end of the match. More talk of there being a conspiracy against the later team, mocking the Bullet Club fans for being “Melvins”.

– ROH World Champion Cody Rhodes def. Scorpio Sky. This was another case of Cody coming out and working the crowd about a big title defense, only to bring out someone who was obviously not going over.

– Kushida & Jay Lethal def. Christopher Daniels & Kazarian. The Addiction cut a heel promo at the start of the match, threatening to walk out and get counted out, but Kushida dove over the ropes to take them out. The IWGP champ got the win with the Hoverboard Lock on Daniels.

Episode #4

– ROH World 6-Man Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks & Hangman Page def. Minoru Suzuki, Silas Young & Beer City Bruiser. After returning from being “kidnapped” by WWE, Hangman got the win over Bruiser. After the match Suzuki beat the hell out of Bruiser and all the people on the ring crew who were out there to close down the show.

That was the only match taped for the fourth episode, and the third episode went by really fast. It’s likely they’ll be using footage from either Death Before Dishonor or the upcoming Global Wars shows that will be done by the time it airs.
