New Japan Pro Wrestling returns to the historic Nippon Budokan this Friday for three consecutive days to end the 2018 G1 Climax tournament. We are just three days away from the two battle-tested best in the world going head-to-head for the right to raise the G1 trophy, punching their ticket to the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 13.

ProWrestling.com will have complete live coverage of all three shows, featuring the final tournament block matches, the return of Rey Mysterio, the Young Bucks in action, Tomoaki Honma’s miraculous comeback from a life-threatening injury, and so much more.

It seems like most people are focussed on the final night of B Block competition, but this show is seriously underrated. The Young Bucks return to headline the undercard, teaming with Kenny Omega for a rare inter-faction bout as The Elite take on Kota Ibushi, Marty Scurll and Chase Owens. I’m also very excited for Hangman Page vs. Yoshi-Hashi. While both guys have been mathematically eliminated for several shows now, every match is an opportunity to show your worth on a major stage, and both guys have been desperate to prove themselves in this tournament.

The show will be headlined by the age old rivalry renewed, as block leader Hiroshi Tanahashi takes on the former, record-breaking world champion Kazuchika Okada. Here’s how the finals will pan out. If Tanahashi wins or draws in the main event, he advances – plain and simple. Jay White needs to win his own match, and he needs Okada to win, because a three-way tie goes to the Switchblade, who had defeated both Okada and Tanahashi earlier in this tournament. In order for Okada to advance, he needs to win his own match and pray that White also loses his.

The last time best friends Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi faced each other in a wrestling ring, they vowed to never to do it again because of the extreme limits they pushed their bodies to for the sake of a victory. They’re about to break that promise, and six years later as two of the best on the planet, they hit a whole lot harder.

Naito will be facing ZSJ in a match that could change everything. If he wins and moves to 14 points, only an Omega victory in the main event will stop him from advancing. In fact, if Omega wins he’s in, no matter what. In order for Ibushi to advance, he needs to win his own match, and hope for Sabre to defeat Naito.

In addition to the top tournament matches, we also have Sanada looking to prove himself as a true main event player when he takes arguably the MVP of this G1, the “Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii. IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Champion Juice Robinson will be looking to score some last minute points against NEVER Openweight Champion Hirooki Goto, but both have a lot to prove. We’ll also see The Villain Club reuniting, and the highly anticipated, miracle return of Tomoaki Honma.
