GoD to Defend Tag Team Titles in NYC Street Fight at ROH Manhattan Mayhem

The highly anticipated rematch between two of the greatest tag teams on the planet is less than two weeks away, and this time things are going to get extreme.

Ring of Honor has confirmed that the Guerrillas of Destiny, Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa, will defend the ROH World Tag Team Championships against the Briscoes on July 20th at the Hammerstein Ballroom. The two world class teams will collide at the promotion’s annual Manhattan Mayhem television taping event, and the belts will be defended in a New York City Street Fight!

The rivalry between these two teams dates back years, and was supposed to culminate in a Champions vs. Champions match at Madison Square Garden in April. However, the G1 Supercard bout was turned into a Fatal 4-Way after Villain Enterprises surprisingly won the ROH titles, which GoD then took from them in The Garden.

Tama Tonga recently informed NJPW management that he did not want to compete in the annual G1 Climax tournament, instead focussing all of his efforts as double champion (they also hold the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships) on building up the promotion’s tag team wrestling division.
