Midwest indie wrestler “Warhorse” Jake Parnell was severely injured this past Saturday night, during a match with Gary Jay for the Zero1 USA promotion.
The two headlined the show in a Last Man Standing match that perhaps got a little out of control, with most of the ring and ringside area – including the ring ropes themselves – being completely dismantled and torn apart. At one point late into the match Gary Jay caught Parnell with the hook on one of the displaced ring ropes and threw him out of the ring altogether. The problem is, what was supposed to be a harmless spot turned freak accident, as the hook stayed in his mouth until ripping a huge gash in the side of his face.
A few fans in attendance apparently didn’t appreciate the extreme level of violence presented in the show, as Zero1 USA released a statement apologizing the next day.
Parnell posted photos on social media (seen below) of the injury and the numerous amount of stitches he received after the show was over. To help cover the cost of medical bills he’s asking fans to purchase mystery merch boxes through his sponsor Fully Gimmicked, which include things like t-shirts, hats, action figures, etc.
If it helps your decision to donate to the cause at all, Parnell actually finished the rest of the Last Man Standing match and took some pretty nasty bumps with his mouth(es?) literally hanging open in two places. Apparently nobody saw fit to stop the bout…
Saturday Night an accident happened and a Turnbuckle was ripped out of my mouth.
Medical Bills suck And Im not wrestling for at least 2 weeks. If you want to help, just order a Mystery Box from @fullygimmicked

Remember kids, be careful. Accidents happen. And despite what they say, you shouldn’t eat the turnbuckle pic.twitter.com/FuXbunJFFe
