WWE fans got more than they bargained for on January 27 when Nia Jax entered the Men’s Royal Rumble Match. The former Raw Women’s champion faced off against Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Mustafa Ali and Dolph Ziggler She tossed all four men around for a few moments until each one eventually hit their finishers on her. Jax was then eliminated from the match.
But it was the man she took down on the way to the ring that had the biggest problem with Jax. R-Truth had the coveted No.30 spot and was on his way to the ring when Jax sneak-attacked him.
WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler recently talked about that moment on his Dinner With the King podcast. According to Lawler, R-Truth was not too happy about Nia’s ambush.
“This got real heat, for real. She blasted poor R-Truth and knocked him face first in that wall. He was hot, for real, hot. They were having to hold him back, back there. She made it look good. It was very, very impressive.”
This may not come as a surprise to many WWE fans who have been following Jax’s career since she started with the company. Nia has become infamous for being rough around the edges when it comes to her ring work. Many have suggested that she just doesn’t have what it takes to be a competitor. After all, if she can’t protect her opponents, then she would certainly be a liability to Vince McMahon’s company.
So this bit of news will likely not help her cause. It appeared that Jax really had nothing left to do in the women’s division, as Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair and Asuka have dominated the top spots for several months. But now it seems that Jax will be utilized more and more against the men, which means she perhaps has a new lease on life in WWE.
