Johnny Gargano will defend the NXT Championship against Adam Cole at TakeOver:XXV on Saturday, June 1. This is the return match from TakeOver: New York, where Cole lost to Gargano in the match that was booked following former champion Tommaso Ciampa’s injury.
The New York match between Gargano and Cole was hailed as one of the best in 2019 so far and the follow-up could very well join that conversation. Cole and Gargano continue to have heat, as the leader of The Undisputed Era seeks to get back on top of the black and yellow brand.
Cole’s faction has also been on a mission to get back on top, but that has not been happened thus far. In fact The Undisputed Era has had some serious problems as of late, leading many to believe that the end was near.
But that does not seem to be the case, as the group’s problems appear to be over. Roderick Strong apparently attacked Matt Riddle during the May 15 edition of NXT, as a peace offering to Cole. Cole, along with Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly, where more than impressed with the move.
Now it seems that The Undisputed Era is back on the same page, which means the title match with Gargano at Takeover: XXV could get very ugly, very quickly.
