As we previously reported, Arolucha will be holding a “Rey Mysterio & Arolucha Present” show on June 17th in Nashville, coming on the heels of Mysterio appearing in the Greatest Royal Rumble match in Saudi Arabia.
While Arolucha will be holding TV tapings this summer, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports negotiations between WWE and Rey Mysterio are ongoing. The report furthered that while a deal still remains likely between the two sides, it likely will not get done until the late summer as Mysterio has several months of bookings ahead of him that he would first need to complete.
The negotiation process between WWE and Mysterio has been slowed by Triple H’s busy Saudi Arabia schedule, Mysterio suffering a minor biceps injury, and the idea that Mysterio can make a lot of money working a much lighter schedule outside of WWE and he is hesitant about working the full-time WWE schedule.
Update On Big Show’s Injury Status
As noted, WWE star Big Show did not compete in the Greatest Royal Rumble match due to a setback in his training he suffered while recovering from his previous injury.
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the severity of Big Show’s injury is unknown, but it was bad enough that he could not work a light load in a protected Royal Rumble match.
Show has since posted the following photo on Instagram noting he is back in the gym:
