Tyler Breeze faced The Velveteen Dream for the NXT North American Championship at TakeOver XXV on June 1. The match was extremely well received by WWE fans, who were hooked from the opening bell to the final bell.
Now Breeze is talking about the match, as well as his journey back to NXT, in a video posted on WWE’s YouTube page. Breeze spoke about coming full circle in his career with Vince McMahon’s company, which originally began in FCW, then in NXT.
“I was involved in the first ever taping to see if NXT could even work. I was at the very show outside of Full Sail. I was at the very first TakeOver…now I’m not only the first to compete at the very first TakeOver, but also TakeOver XXV. Nobody else can say that.
It’s (NXT) more of something that I’ve put my blood sweat and tears into, to really get off the ground. So anytime I can talk about NXT, I’ll talk about it with a little more passion than the average person.”
Breeze’s return to the black and gold brand was indeed felt by longtime NXT fans, who appreciated his work long before he joined Fandango on the main roster. Tyler also talked about the overwhelmingly positive fan response that his match with Dream received.
“The fact that everyone knows who you are, they want you here, they welcome you and you know, they’re going to get a match that they’ve been looking for, for a long time every single time that I go out there; and I think that’s exactly what they got tonight.”
Breezango has not worked as a team since 2018. Fandango suffered a shoulder injury which sidelined him for the rest of the year, but he is reportedly training for a comeback. Whether or not he will be reunited with Breeze is unknown. It’s also unknown if Tyler will continue with NXT, or if he will now head back to WWE’s main roster.
