LuFisto Blogs About Her Condition Following Cancer Diagnosis, Australian Tour Coming to New Japan World

Australian Tour on New Japan World

Kevin Kelly, one half of the English commentary team for New Japan Pro Wrestling, noted on Twitter this week that the promotion’s recent tour of Australia will be uploaded to their streaming service New Japan World.

“We are voicing this tour’s shows soon for release on New Japan World,” he stated, including that they hope to air the shows live with commentary the next time they return to the company. Kevin Kelly began as the English voice of NJPW back in 2015 doing play-by-play alongside Steve Corino for a few of the promotion’s major annual shows. Since then they’ve ramped up their English coverage to include virtually every important show on the calendar, and Kevin has previously expressed a desire to call the entire G1 Climax tour live from Japan.

Update on LuFisto’s Condition

We reported last week that long-time independent wrestler Lufisto had unfortunately been diagnosed with cervical cancer. She has since provided an update on her condition and blogged about her battle with depression over the last year.

One of Lufisto’s biggest struggles is that she’s a Canadian living as a resident in the United States, which means she doesn’t have access to affordable healthcare in either country. So far she has not started a GoFundMe or any count of crowdfunding campaign to assist with her bills, stating that she has heard “horror stories” of people using those services, and feels guilty taking money from people “for something they are not responsible for.”

“This morning however, when my family doctor said she had seen my biopsy results and mentioned the word ‘cancer’, it hit me harder than the last time. I’ve been more preoccupied about the financial aspect of the illness than the problem itself so maybe that is why I wasn’t too concerned about the illness. Maybe I was feeling invincible too and didn’t take it seriously. I don’t know.”
