Matt Riddle Begins Training at the WWE Performance Center; Update on His First Major NXT Program

Matt Riddle has begun training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The former UFC fighter turned indie wrestling darling appeared before the live crowd at NXT Takeover: New Orleans last month, and will be working his final independent date at the 9/30 PROGRESS Wrestling event at Wembley Stadium.

Interestingly, WWE has published nothing about Riddle working out at the Performance Center, outside of his original signing. Generally they released articles on their website covering new classes of developmental stars.

It’s expected that when Riddle does debut on NXT television, which could be at the next set of tapings at Full Sail University on 9/20, that his first program will be against Kassius Ohno. Ohno has been cutting promos recently setting himself up as a gatekeeper for new and debuting NXT talents, and even sarcastically dropped the word “bro” into a segment with William Regal this past Wednesday night.
