New Japan Pro Westling is getting a new time slot on AXS TV. The announcement was made in a press release on June 12 via the company’s social media.
New Japan fans in the US have long been able to get a fix of NJPW every Friday night thanks to our fantastic partners at AXS TV. On July 6, our relationship with AXS is taken to new heights as they provide live coverage of G1 Climax 29 opening day in Dallas, starting at 6PM Eastern/3PM Pacific.
From there, NJPW will find a new home on Saturday nights with AXS, who will provide extensive coverage of the G1 throughout the summer. Over a six week period starting July 13, AXS will be showing standout G1 tournament matches, before same day coverage of the A Block final in the Nippon Budokan on August 10, and two hour specials showing the very best of the B Block final and final night on August 17 and 24.
This is good news for many fans who perhaps do not subscribe to New Japan’s streaming service, New Japan World. Now one of the company’s biggest events of the year, the G1 Tournament, will kick off live on AXS and that’s definitely an added bonus.
The kickoff event in Dallas marks the first time that the G1 has ever been held in a country outside of Japan. Will Ospreay, Shingo Takagi, Jon Moxley, Lance Archer and the debuting KENTA are just some of the stars that will compete in the tournament.
This summer in the US, NJPW moves to Saturday night on @AXSTV ! Starting with live coverage of #g129 opening day July 6, and continuing with G1 highlights all through the tournament!https://t.co/02HtGHIXyx#njpw pic.twitter.com/Lvg6j4DZU1
