As the heartbreaking implosion of the Bullet Club continued its seemingly never-ending warpath through NJPW Wrestling Dontaku today as the Young Bucks teamed with “The Villain” Marty Scurll to take the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championships from Bad Luck Fale and the Guerrillas of Destiny.
Tensions are certainly high as, somewhat ironically, the Bullet Club celebrates five years to the day since Prince Devitt (aka Finn Balor), Karl Anderson, Tama Tonga and the “Underboss” Bad Luck Fale stormed the ring to usher in the birth of one of professional wrestling’s all-time great factions.
Fast-forward to today in Fukuoka and it seemed like the two sides might come to blows after the championship match, but ultimately we saw a peaceful transition of power, albeit a begrudging one. The important thing to remember here is that, while they may for now be on opposite sides of a brutal game of chess, all six men have really been swept up as collateral damage in a war between two men – the “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes, and the “Best Bout Machine” Kenny Omega.
This marks the third reign as NEVER champions for the Young Bucks, and the first for Marty Scurll. It is actually The Villain’s first major tag team championship win of any kind, including NJPW, Ring of Honor and PROGRESS Wrestling.
