IWGP JR. TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
KANEMARU & DESPERADO (c) vs. SHINGO TAKAGI & BUSHI vs. ROPPONGI 3K
This is gonna be nuts…
Roppongi started out with dives over the ropes to take out both of the LIJ boys. They tried for it a second time but Kanemaru and Desperado were there to catch them with dropkicks, before isolating YOH (I believe) with a Sidewalk Slam and dropkick combo. They slowed things down very briefly with quick, alternating tags to keep YOH on the mat, but eventually SHO got the hot tag and started taking out everyone he could find with lariats and beautiful flipping dropkicks.
I completely lost track of the action as Shingo hit the ring and an all-out brawl broke out. At one point Desperado and Kanemaru both had mouths full of whiskey and poison mist, but they got caught with stereo superkicks from Roppongi, spraying it all into the air. Great looking spot. Shingo brutalized both guys with some absolutely nasty lariats. Bushi flew through the ropes taking out both of the champions, as Shingo got SHO up for his finisher, Last of the Dragon, and connected for the 1…2…3.
Winners and New Champions: Shingo Takagi & Bushi
RPW BRITISH HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
TOMOHIRO ISHII (c) vs. ZACK SABRE JR.
Ishii went for an early lariat but got caught in an armbar. The story there was ZSJ was teasing that he was going to tap out the Stone Pitbull in 30 seconds or less, and as Don Callis put it ever-so-bluntly on commentary — that’s just not gonna happen. The basic layout of the match was Sabre countering every move into a submission, Ishii fighting his way out of said submission into a huge power move, but Sabre countering right back into a submission. I don’t think Ishii ever actually strung together more than two consecutive moves.
The champ deadlifted Sabre out of an armbar into a Brainbuster attempt, but Sabre yet again countered, this time snapping his arm at a nasty angle. With an injury in place ZSJ went right to work, kicking away and focussing his submissions on the arm and elbow. He made the mistake of trying to get into a fist fight with Ishii however, and got DESTROYED by elbow strikes, followed by a powerbomb into a stacking pin for a close nearfall.
Ishii finally rallied together a series of moves, connecting with a headbutt to the heart and a rolling lariat. Sabre with a kick to the bad arm before trying a rear naked choke, bridging into a crazy looking pinning combination for another nearfall. He transitioned into an octopus stretch, Ishii tried to wriggle free, but Sabre somehow rolled him into a DOUBLE octopus stretch hooking both of his arms. The champion tried his best to fight out, the referee kept asking him if he wanted to quit, and eventually Ishii stopped responding and they had to call the fight.
Winner and New Champion: Zack Sabre Jr.
