Another edition of NXT is in the books and once again, the program gave fans a healthy dose of action. This time out, a monster debuted, tag teams were squashed and two of the brand’s biggest stars came to blows inside a steel cage.

The program kicked off with Io Shirai and Dakota Kai in a women’s division tag team match against Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir. Io and Dakota have had issues lately with Shafir and Duke, who keep getting involved in Shayna Baszler’s matches.

Baszler has taken advantage of her fellow Horsewomen’s help against Kairi Sane, which gave Io and Dakota a reason to get involved as well. Shafir and Duke were down for the first few moments of this match but the advantage soon went to The Horsewomen, who gained control. But in the end, it was Shirai and Kai that came out on top.

Winners: Io Shirai and Dakota Kai

Up next was Matt Riddle, who gave an interview about Kassius Ohno. He said that he understood why Ohno was upset with him, as The King of Bros laid him out in seven seconds. Riddle dared Kassius to step into the ring with him again and if he does, the same thing will happen.

Aaron Mackey versus Dominik Dijakovic was the next match and many fans were indeed anxious to see Dijakovic’s NXT debut. The match was a squash, as Mackey did not get in much offense. Dominik hit his “Feast Your Eyes” finisher and the modified Go To Sleep maneuver laid Mackey out to rest.

Winner: Dominik Dijakovic

Heavy Machinery was up next and destroyed two unnamed opponents. WWE recently announced that Heavy Machinery is among the next batch of main roster call-ups but the duo has unfinished business in NXT. That business is with The Undisputed Era and the two teams will face off for the NXT Tag Team Championships on the December 26 edition of NXT.

The main event came next as Aleister Black faced off against Johnny Gargano inside a steel cage. Black was out first but before he could get in the ring, he was ambushed by Gargano. Johnny Wrestling had the upper hand at first but Aleister quickly made a comeback. The two men fought outside the ring for several moments before finally entering the cage and starting the match.

This match delivered on every level. NXT fans expected a top notch performance from both men and that’s exactly what they got. Black and Gargano traded the advantage back and forth, hitting one high spot after another. The Full Sail crowd was split down the middle, as they surprisingly chanted for Gargano and Black.

But the shocker of the night came when Gargano and Black were both going for the exit from the cage. Johnny was climbing down the outside of the cage and Aleister was crawling through the door when suddenly, Tommaso Ciampa appeared and slammed the door on Black’s head.

The NXT champion got in the ring and stared down Gargano as the fans chanted “DIY.” The two heated rivals hit a double team on Black and then Gargano pinned him for the win.

This may or may not have been a reunion for DIY. Gargano and Ciampa have been at odds for quite some time and have waged countless wars against each other in NXT. But Gargano’s heel turn seems to put him on the same page as Ciampa, which means DIY may indeed be back together again.
