No Universal Champion
You know it’s sad when I forgot Brock Lesnar was Universal Champion. The man has shown up since ______ and probably will not show up again until the Royal Rumble. Frankly there is two viable options: 1) Make the WWE Championship joint-branded and defended on both shows or 2) Give the Universal Championship to a full-time competitor ASAP and try to salvage something. The lineage of the Universal Championship started off strong with reigns (no pun intended) by Bálor and Kevin Owens, then slowly fell into oblivion when the likes of Goldberg and Brock Lesnar sparred over the red strap.
Fix It: I have also mentioned this previously; one world championship A major issue with RAW is that Universal Champion Brock Lesnar is MIA. I completely forgot Brock Lesnar was still Universal Champion until my epiphany on the toilet the other day.
When the Brand Extension 2.0 was announced, I lobbied for a dual-branded WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Two world championships does not work in one promotion. They tried it the first time and it worked until it didn’t. So long as you have 1 promotion, there needs to be 1 World Champion. The IC and US Championships should act as the shows main title with the World Championship being defended across both shows as a title for the “best of the best.” We world also get a lot of dream matches out of it without having to move guys from one brand to another. Imagine an AJ Styles vs. Seth Rollins or a Daniel Bryan vs. Seth Rollins match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Umm, yes please!
But if WWE is dead-set on having two world championships, it needs to be put on someone other than Brock Lesnar. The Universal Championship could do wonders for someone like Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, or Finn Bálor. Brock Lesnar is the hollow champion nobody wants nor deserves.
Simple fixes can help make RAW worthwhile again. Intriguing storylines, deserving talent, and quality matches are what can be utilized to make RAW better. We likely won’t be seeing RAW move down to 2 hours anytime soon, but that’s not to say that RAW cannot be restructured to help fix the largest issue. Let’s be honest, how much worse can it get? I don’t know if I want to stick around to find out.
