Owen Hart’s Brother On Loophole For Owen’s WWE Hall of Fame Induction, 2014 HOF Candidates

The first son of Stu Hart and the oldest brother of Bret and Owen Hart, Smith Hart has published a new column at PWMania.com. Hart looks at the possible candidates for the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame. Hart discusses Owen Hart not being able to be inducted due to his sister-in-law being at odds with WWE, but reveals the obvious loophole on how Owen could still be inducted. Hart also talks on the Ultimate Warrior being inducted and more. Here is an excerpt from his entry:

“As WrestleMania season approaches, so does the question of who will be inducted into the 2014 Hall of Fame class. Inevitably each year I am barraged by fans wondering if/when my brother Owen will be inducted. I too share everyone’s feelings as Owen’s career and accomplishments deserve recognition. However with my sister-in-law, Martha, still at odds with WWE, the likelihood of the two coming to terms on Owen’s individual induction remains highly unlikely.

“However WWE has an obvious loophole. Much like the 2011 collective induction of the Four Horsemen, I feel WWE could induct the Hart Foundation as a unit. All five, Bret, Owen, Davey, Jim and Brian Pillman made great contributions and had stellar Hall of Fame calibre careers. By inducting them as a unit, it would offer the fans and my family the ability to honor Owen and his incredible career while sparring ill feelings that have yet to fully mend.”

  1. That woman is a c***. Selfish b****, like no one else gave a damn about owen but her. Thanks for dishonoring his memory and all the work he did, whore…

    • Put yourself in his wife’s shoes, you no-good asswipe… can’t, can you? Didn’t think so. F*** yourself and all your judgments. You’re a poor excuse for a wrestling fan.

      • She is a b****. When the Hart Family dvd came out a few years ago she caused a big stink about it. She went to all the local papers here in Calgary and whined and complained and wanted Owen removed from everything. She refused to let her kids watch any wrestling, even family members and she wants Owens wrestling history wiped out. In Bret’s book he even talks about how psycho her and Bret’s first wife were as they were best friends. Difference between the two women is that Bret’s wife understood that wrestling was his passion and what he loved to do while Martha was a selfish twat who only thought of herself and wanted Owen to quit all the time despite wrestling is what he loved. If anyone is an asswipe it’s you little boy.

        • Honestly, I can see Martha’s side. If someone you loved died due to negligence for money, you’d be pretty bitter. But I also say that I feel some of that is from her hate of wrestling. In her own book she admits that when they had company, they put away anything of Owens that linked him to wrestling. How can you deny your husband’s job like that? But irregardless, we don’t know her. Just because we/fans want Owen, it’s not up to us. We didn’t know him like his family did. His family owes us nothing. It should be up to the family he left behind to decide and we should accept that.

          • Well the only one who doesn’t want him in is Martha. The rest of the family seems to want to see Owen inducted. I’m sure if Stu were still alive he would be pulling for him to be in the Hall of Fame. I agree they don’t owe us anything but it is an honor to be inducted into a HOF for anything, it means you contributed something, you meant something to your profession and they want to recognize that. It’s not like anyone is asking her to show up and walk out on stage, she can stay home for all I care. Let Bret accept on his behalf or I’m sure one of Owens kids would be willing to do it. I don’t think the family will ever get over Owens death they have managed to put the past were it belongs and move on with their lives and she should do the same and allow Owen the recognition he rightly deserves.

          • i’m sure she loved the money coming in, it should be the Hart family who accepts the honor anyway, not her.

  2. Once again, Smith looks like an idiot. There is no difference if he is inducted as a member of the Hart Foundation. As soon as Owen’s likeness or name is used, Martha will have a s%^t-fit.

It’s not that the WWE can’t include him. It would just look bad if Martha, his kids ,or – if Bret stuck with her- even Bret not showing up.

    • I think he’d show up. He’s been pretty supportive of inducting Owen and stated he’d like to do it. I think it’s just a matter of whether the WWE is allowed to (rights and stuff), or whether they want bad press and to be accused of profiting off of someone who died the way Owen did and Martha’s reaction.

      • I agree with you completely. My only point is that what Smith said makes no sense. Whether it’s Owen himself, or the Hart Foundation, it will be the same problem.
